Abstract:
Disclosed is a fragrance composition having enhanced efficacy for masking malodor, for extended periods of time, the fragrance composition containing fragrance materials that provide a top note an/or a middle note and/or a bottom note, and also containing more than 28 %, and up to 95 % by weight, of the total weight of the composition, of acetyl hexamethyl tetralin. The fragrance composition can be incorporated in deodorant compositions to be applied to a person's skin, e.g., in axillary regions, to combat body malodor, including malodor arising in axillary regions.
Abstract:
A method for preparing an aromatic water-soluble plant essence. The method involves preparing a hydro-alcoholic mixture of a raw essential oil having a titre from 20 to under 40° of alcohol, and distilling the mixture with a low-rectification apparatus. The distillate is recovered and the insoluble supernatant phase is removed. An aromatic water-soluble plant essence having high organoleptic quality and time stability can thereby be prepared, particularly from the essential oils of lemons and limes.
Abstract:
The compounds of formula (I) in which R stands for a methyl or ethyl group, are used as perfume ingredients for the preparation of perfuming compositions and perfumed articles, to which they confer aromatic and thujonic notes. The compounds can be used in the form of a mixture of enantiomers or in an enantiomerically pure state. The invention also comprises original processes for the preparation of these compounds.
Abstract:
A process for producing a perfume which comprises treating milk or a processed milk product successively with a lipase and, in the presence of an alcohol, an enzyme originating in an animal which has the activity of forming an ester with the use of an organic acid and an alcohol as the substrates (hereinafter referred to as the ester synthetase). A perfume having a rich fruity fragrance can be produced by using as the ester synthetase the enzyme which has an activity of synthesizing at least 0.1 (U/mg protein) of ethyl butyrate in the enzymatic reaction between 0.5 % (w/w) of ethanol and 2.6 % (w/w) of butyric acid employed as the substrates. The perfume is usable not only in processed milk products but also in processing various foods.
Abstract:
Cyclohexyl-substituted alkanols have the general formula (I), in which the residues R to R independently represent hydrogen or an alkyl group with 1 to 4 C atoms; the residue R stands for hydrogen or an alkyl group with 1 to 4 C atoms; and Cy stands for a cyclohexyl group. Theses compounds are characterised by interesting and very penetrating scents and are useful as odoriferous materials, for example in cosmetic preparations or technical products or in alcohol-based perfumes.
Abstract:
A method of improving the note of an essential oil by adding thereto a phenoxyalkanoic acid represented by general formula (I) or a salt thereof in a quantity effective in improving the note, wherein R's are the same or different from one another and each represents hydrogen, halogeno, hydroxy, lower alkyl, lower alkanoyl or lower alkoxy; n represents an integer of 0 to 4; and A represents C1-C5 linear or branched alkylene. This method serves to improve the tastiness of an essential oil by modifying its note.
Abstract:
A perfume composition comprising a combination of l-menthol with one or more potentiators represented by general formulae (1) to (4), wherein R represents a monovalent C1-C5 hydrocarbon group; and R and R represent each hydrogen or a monovalent C1-C3 hydrocarbon group. The composition is suitable for use in oral-hygiene compositions such as dentifrice, mouthwash or mouth refrigerant, food and drink, cosmetics, and so forth to impart thereto excellent coolness and the capability of developing and diffusing the coolness and to potentiate the flavor and taste as a whole.

Abstract:
The invention concerns the use, as odoriferous substances, of isomeric 1,1,1-trialkyl-2-phenylethane derivatives of general formula (I), in which R1 to R3, independently of each other, are alkyl groups with 1 to 3 C-atoms and R4 is hydrogen or an alkyl, acyl, alkoxycarbonyl or alkoxyalkyl group with a total of 2 to 5 C-atoms. These compounds, in particular the 2,2-dimethyl-1-phenylpropyl ester of acetic acid, have a complex rosy/woody character and high scent-emanation power, and can be mixed with each other or with other odoriferous substances in widely varying proportions, generally 1-70 % by wt. relative to the overall composition, to give new fragrances. These compositions can be used for perfuming cosmetic preparations and industrial products, as well as in alcohol fragances.
Abstract:
Utilization of salicylic acid-cycloalkyl- or alkenyl esters (ring size: C5-C9) as perfuming substances, and perfuming compositions containing them, as well as new salicylic acid-cycloalkyl esters.
