Abstract:
Laminated elastic webs are manufactured in a pre-stretched condition using a laminating machine. A conveyor system located downstream of the laminating machine conveys the laminated elastic webs to packaging machines (e.g. reject splicers and festooners). The conveyor system operates at speeds proportionally less than the line speed of the laminating machine so that the laminated elastic web relaxes from its stretched condition, and becomes fully or almost fully relaxed and gathered before packaging. Sufficient relaxation is important before packaging so that the laminated elastic web does not set in stretched form while packaged, or alternatively relax further while packaged to create dead space within the packaging container. The conveyor system preferably includes an inclined conveyor belt followed by a multi-lane air conveyor. Each lane of the air conveyor gently transports one of several laminated elastic webs from the belt conveyor to the respective packaging machine.

Abstract:
A stretching composite sheet comprising a stretching nonwoven fabric and a thermoplastic elastomer layer bonded to one surface of this nonwoven fabric. The stretching nonwoven fabric is formed by performing a stretchability imparting process, such as pleating, on a nonwoven fabric of non-elastic fibers and has at least 100% elongation at least in one direction. The thermoplastic elastomer layer is bonded to the stretching nonwoven fabric in such a pattern that has a directivity in a direction in which the stretching nonwoven fabric has at least 100% elengation.
Abstract:
A tuck woven composite fiber net, characterized in that composite fibers having thermal adhesive property and having a fineness of 200 to 2500 dtex are woven as warps and wefts with an opening of 0.5 to 5 mm and are adhered by heating to each other at points of intersection of the composite fibers, and the portion adhered by heating has an adhesion strength of 20 cN or more.
Abstract:
A wall covering system including a pleated material (14), and the method of producing and installing the plated material (14). The pleated material (14) includes a plurality of permanently fixed pleats (16) extending in substantially parallel vertical relation to each other. Each pleat (16) includes first and second pleat panels (30, 32) having first ends fixed by a securing line and opposing second ends defining an apex. The apex extends outwardly away from the wall (10) as each pleat (16) converges toward a center line (28) extending between upper (24) and lower (26) portions of each pleat (16). The method of producing the pleated material (14) includes passing a planar material successively through a pleating die and a securing device to initially form a plurality of pleats (16) simultaneously and thereafter secure the plurality of pleats (16) simultaneously.

Abstract:
An article of apparel (100) may include a textile element (130) that defines a crease ( 130). The textile element may be knitted to have a first course (141,143) and a second course (144,146) that are adjacent to each other in some areas of the textile element ( 130) and spaced from each other by a raised course (148) in other areas of the textile element. The crease (131) extends along the third course (147) and has a length that is substantially equal to a length of the third course. In manufacturing the textile element (130), the raised course (148) may be formed between portions of the first course and the second course through a knitting process, such as a flat knitting process.
Abstract:
A material is provided, being partially metallised yet flexible. The material is manufactured by electrodeposition of a metal onto a backing sheet (10) to provide an array of stiffened panels (12) of metallic appearance on the backing sheet. The backing sheet is subsequently pleated in the lines (14,16) extending between the panels.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for making a bulky web. A web is fed in a first direction. The web is subjected to incremental stretching in a direction perpendicular to the first direction to provide a bulky web. The bulky web is then stabilized to provide a stabilized bulked web. Optionally, the bulky web may be gathered after it has been subjected to incremental stretching.
