An article of apparel may include a textile element that defines a crease. The textile element may be knitted to have a first course and a second course that are adjacent to each other in some areas of the textile element and spaced from each other by a raised course in other areas of the textile element. The crease extends along the third course and has a length that is substantially equal to a length of the third course. In manufacturing the textile element, the raised course may be formed between portions of the first course and the second course through a knitting process, such as a flat knitting process.

A wall covering system including a pleated material (14), and the method of producing and installing the plated material (14). The pleated material (14) includes a plurality of permanently fixed pleats (16) extending in substantially parallel vertical relation to each other. Each pleat (16) includes first and second pleat panels (30, 32) having first ends fixed by a securing line and opposing second ends defining an apex. The apex extends outwardly away from the wall (10) as each pleat (16) converges toward a center line (28) extending between upper (24) and lower (26) portions of each pleat (16). The method of producing the pleated material (14) includes passing a planar material successively through a pleating die and a securing device to initially form a plurality of pleats (16) simultaneously and thereafter secure the plurality of pleats (16) simultaneously.

A simplified manufacturing technique to directly form unitized composite structures optionally with at least one relatively flat surface and with at least one surface having raised mound-like elements in an internally-bonded unitized composite is provided. A matrix of fibrous and or other material elements is deposited in un-bonded layers. At least one element is composed of a contractive material which shrinks relative to the other component elements when activated, such as by heating in an oven, to become an internally bonded unitized composite with z-direction raised mound-like texturing after the activation step. Finished product applications and unitized composite webs suitable for finished products employing the inventions are provided.

The material is manufactured by electrodeposition of a metal onto a backing sheet (10) to provide an array of stiffened panels (12) of metallic appearance on the backing sheet. A three dimensional cellular shade (20) attached to a roller (21). The cells (28) of the shade (20) expand outward as the shade (20) is unrolled. The shade (20) is made from two sheets of fabric (22, 24). One of the fabrics (24) is decorative. The other fabric (22) is more functional. The decorative fabric (24) is longer in length than the functional fabric (22). The two fabrics (22, 24) are joined together along a plurality of joints (26) extending down the length of the shade (20). These joints (26) are uniformly displaced from one another. The ratio of decorative fabric (24) to functional fabric (22) between any two joints (26) is greater than one. This ratio is important for ensuring that the cells will expand outward as the shade (20) is unrolled.
