Abstract:
Provided herein is a method for coating a surface. The method comprises providing a towelette moistened with a mixture of constituents to form a silicon-based coating composition comprising silane, siloxane, and an organic solvent. The mixture is transferred from the towelette to form a coating on a surface. The coating is cured ambiently with or without additional heat. Also provided herein is a moistened towelette for coating a surface. The towelette comprises (a) a substrate and (b) a mixture of constituents to form a silicon-based coating composition comprising silane. The mixture is contained within the substrate until applied to a surface, and, after application, the coating of the mixture onto the surface cures ambiently with or without additional heat.
Abstract:
The present invention refers to a method for applying at least one laundry finishing agent to laundry articles, comprising the step of contacting solid carbon dioxide comprising said laundry finishing agent with said laundry articles.
Abstract:
Water structurants are used in combination with a lipophilic fluid and water to deliver fabric care benefits to a fabric article in a non-aqueous fabric treatment system. Water structurants are effective in minimizing fabric damages (e.g., shrinkage, pilling, loss of shapes) from the fabric treatment process. Compositions comprising the water structurants for use in a non-aqueous fabric treating process are also disclosed. The compositions are capable of delivering the fabric care benefits to the fabric article and minimizing fabric damages.
Abstract:
The invention provides an in-home dry cleaning process carried out in a dry-cleaning machine containing a non-flammable, non-chlorine containing organic dry cleaning solvent, wherein said process comprises the steps of (i) mixing said solvent with a disposable treatment composition to form a dry cleaning composition, and subsequently (ii) contacting a laundry article with the dry cleaning composition. The disposable treatment composition contains a surfactant and/or cleaning agent and dry cleaning solvent in an amount which is sufficient to replenish the dry cleaning solvent lost in a previous dry cleaning cycle in said dry cleaning machine. As a result, the total amount of solvent in the machine is maintained at substantially constant level.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for removing and/or reducing incidental soils from fabric articles, especially articles of clothing, linen and drapery, wherein the compositions provide improved cleaning of incidental soils, either with or without a subsequent wash process or other entire fabric care process are provided. The compositions are characterized by the presence of a soil modifying agent.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention provides a dry cleaning process that facilitates distribution of detergent and solvent and (optionally) facilitates recovery of cleaning by-products in conjunction with the cleaning of articles at a dry cleaning facility. The proces comprises the steps of: (a) receiving from a source a dry cleaning solvent at the dry cleaning facility, the solvent consisting essentially of carbon dioxide; (b) receiving a concentrated detergent formulation (preferably a liquid formulation) at the cleaning facility; (c) accepting from customers soiled articles to be cleaned at the cleaning facility; (d) mixing the dry cleaning solvent and the concentrated detergent formulation to provide a dry cleaning formulation comprised of from 30 or 40 to 99 percent by weight of carbon dioxide solvent; (e) cleaning the articles in a cleaning apparatus to produce cleaned articles; (f) at least periodically distilling the dry cleaning formulation to produce a still residue comprising surfactant and soil; and then (g) returning the cleaned articles to the customers. Optionally but preferably, the process further comprises the step of: (h) returning the still residue to a waste collector or reprocessor for suitable disposal.
Abstract:
A method for stabilizing silicone dry cleaning solvents that may contain an undesirable acidic impurity capable of causing cyclic siloxane formation, comprising contacting the silicone solvent with an aqueous solution, and separating the silicone solvent.
Abstract:
A method of treating fabric comprising dyed cellulosic fibres to increase its photostability comprises applying to the fabric a substance which is absorbed into and/or coated on to the fibres such that the diffusion of atmospheric oxygen into and/or within the fibres is inhibited. The method may be carried out as part of a laundering process or an industrial textile treatment. The method is particurlarly effective when the compound is used in conjuction with a sunscreen such as a benzotriazole.
