Abstract:
Functionalizing a fibrous material having a plurality of hydroxyl groups includes reacting the fibrous material with a compound of Formula I: (I) where X is a monovalent counteranion for the quaternary ammonium cation of Formula I and Hal is a halogen atom, to obtain the functionalized fibrous material. Also provided is a functionalized fibrous material prepared by any one of the methods described herein (e.g., a functionalized fiber including a moiety of Formula II: (II) having an odor of free amine below the threshold of detection, or having an odor of free amine with degree of offensiveness of about 3 or less. The functionalized fibrous material may be dyed, and articles of clothing may be made from the dyed functionalized fibrous material.
Abstract:
The present invention provides antimicrobial polymers, composition, and methods for producing the same. The polmyeric composition comprises a polymer having a functional monomeric unit; and an antimicrobial agent attached to the functional monomeric unit. The monomeric unit preferably includes a functional group such as a carboxylate group, a sulfonate group an alkoxide, a phosphate or a phosphonate group. The antimicrobial polymers are preferably antimicrobial textiles, which can be used in a wide variety of applications. Suitable applications include surgeon's gowns, caps, masks, surgical covers, patient drapes, carpeting, bedding material, underwear, socks sports, sportswear and healthcare uniforms.
Abstract:
A method for recycling dye from a dyed textile, the method comprising providing a textile coloured with a dye; adding the textile to a bath comprising a solution of ionic liquid, thereby causing the dye to strip from the textile and to disperse within said solution.
Abstract:
A wide array of textile fabric substrates can be treated to improve the colorfastness and washfastness of ink jet ink formulations. The aqueous treatment formulations include between about 5-95 % cationic polymers or copolymers, and between about 5-20 % fabric softeners. Additionally, the formulations may also include between about 0-80 % of a polymeric latex binder so as to increase washfastness. These percentages are based on a conventional measurement for solids content.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for dyeing fibrous materials containing cellulose with acid dyes, characterized in that the fibrous materials containing cellulose are pretreated in an aqueous pretreatment bath which as component (A) contains a compound of formula (1), where A is an anion, and as component (B) contains a cross-linking resin, after which said materials are died with at least one acid dye using an exhaust process.
Abstract:
A composition comprising: (a) a cationic substance; (b) an acid generator; and (c) an alkyl or a hydroxyalkyl substituted starch. Also claimed is a polyamide textile material treated with the composition, a method for ink jet printing onto a polyamide textile material which has been treated with the composition and a polyamide material printed using the method.
Abstract:
Method of a chemical composition, which consists of quaternary ammonium salts benzyl - dimethyl - dodecyl (lauryl) ammonium chloride and benzyl - dimethyl tetradecyl (myristyl) ammonium chloride in a content of 5 % by weight totally, as well as on alcohols in a content of 2 % by weight totally, aromatizators in a content of 2 % by weight totally and deionized water in a content of 91 % by weight, which is used in a wide field of applications, such as disinfectant and cleansing means and as a synergistic material in industrial processings and in the agriculture.
