    Abstract: A seal assembly to seal fluid under pressure may include a pair of annular mating rings with seal faces. At least one of the seal faces may define a sealing interface between a radially inner edge and a radially outer edge of one of the rings. At least one of the seal faces may include a channel for receiving the fluid under pressure. The channel may include a circumferential channel and one or more radial channels. The radial channels may include a first radial channel extending from the circumferential channel to a first edge of the seal face adjacent the fluid under pressure. The radial channels may include a second radial channel that extends from the circumferential channel toward a second edge of the seal face adjacent a fluid at a lower pressure relative to the fluid under pressure.

    Abstract: A wind turbine drive train component (22) comprising a rotating shaft (61) with a radial seal (50) is provided. The radial seal (50) comprises a stationary part and a rotating part. The stationary part comprises a ring (51) with an inner edge and an outer edge, the inner edge being configured for contactlessly surrounding the shaft (61). The rotary part comprising a disc (52), coaxially connected to the shaft (61) for rotation therewith and comprising a flange (53) that wraps around the outer edge of the ring (51). The radial seal (50) further comprises an annular air lock gap (55) for containing an amount of lubrication fluid (64) and thereby closing off the air lock gap (55) when the rotary part rotates at a rotational speed above a predetermined threshold speed, the annular air lock gap (55) being formed by an inner surface of the flange (53), an outer part of the opposing parallel surface of the disc (52) and the outer edge of the ring (51).

    Abstract: The invention relates to a high pressure diesel fuel pump comprising a drivetrain assembly having a driveshaft, a drive chamber isolated from external chamber surroundings by a chamber wall having a bearing, and a seal arrangement adapted to provide a sealing interface between the bearing and the driveshaft. The seal arrangement comprises a seal having a retaining member adapted to fit with a radial face and a sealing member adapted to provide the sealing interface with an axial face. The seal arrangement further comprises a pressure member adapted to force the sealing member against the axial face. The invention also extends to a drivetrain assembly, a sealing arrangement and an adapted driveshaft.

    Abstract: A mechanical seal is disclosed having a rotatable sealing face and a stationary sealing face that are in opposed relation and arranged to be urged, into contact to form a seal. One of the sealing faces is mounted on a support assembly that includes a biasing device operative to move that sealing face into contact with the other sealing face.
