摘要: A method includes: generating a three-dimensional grid of cells representing respective portions of an interior of a container, each cell having a status indicator defining an occupancy state of the corresponding portion of the container interior; during loading of the container: maintaining, for each of the cells, a current status indicator, controlling a depth sensor to capture a sequence of point clouds, each point cloud depicting the container interior, in response to each point cloud capture in the sequence, generating updated status indicators for the cells, based on (i) the point cloud, and on (ii) the current status indicators, replacing the current status indicators with the updated status indicators, measuring a current fullness of the container based on the current status indicators, and transmitting the current fullness to a computing device for at least one of display of the current fullness, or alert generation associated with the current fullness.

摘要: Direct measurements of plant morphological characteristics can be difficult. Allometric equations can relate traits such as canopy height (CH) and width or stem diameter at breast height (DBH) to coarse measures of biomass or volume. However, precise and accurate measurements of plants and other irregular objects are still difficult. Thus, the present invention was developed as a simple and effective solution for quickly measuring the volume of plants. The devices and methods described herein allow for the precise and accurate measurement of plants as well as other irregularly shaped objects.

摘要: A method for measuring and analysing packages particularly for optimising storage in a warehouse or for packing for transporting. The method follows the steps of placing packages on a floor surface moving a robot to adjacent one of the packages. Lidar or similar is used to measuring distance data from the robot to the package at a multiple heights from at least 0.5m above the floor surface. The robot then follows a path around all or part of the packages gathering further distance data as it travels. The distance data is then used to determine or infer the shape of the sides of the package and from their estimate volumetric dimensions of the package. The volumetric dimensions are then used to optimise storage of the package with other packages.
