摘要: The invention involves apparatus and method for confirming the presence/absence of closures (120) in a closure nest (100) inside an aseptic chamber (20). The apparatus comprises a topographical profiler (37, 41) disposed to monitor the closure nests. Vertical displacements in topographical maps obtained by the profiler are compared with information from a database about the nest and closure combinations. Vertical displacements falling outside predetermined upper and lower bounds are deemed absences of closures. The topographical profiler may be disposed outside the aseptic chamber. The system may be automated via a controller (51) and software. In some embodiments the nests are disposed in the monitored area by robotic articulated arms (22). In other embodiments the closure nests are moved by vacuum pickup systems (86). The system/method may also be employed to assess the suitability of a closure nest for closing in an aseptic chamber containers in a container nest (70).

摘要: A variety of systems and methods are described which quickly and conveniently provide for the selective transmission of individual solid pharmaceutical products from a common location into individual blister package product cavities. In accordance with the preferred exemplary embodiments, an automated alignment mechanism alters the orientation of solid pharmaceutical products that are initially arranged randomly in a two-dimensional array into one or more linear transmission systems (16). Each linear transmission system is essentially a one-dimensional stack of solid pharmaceutical products (12), vitamins or other elements. In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, after the solid pharmaceutical products have been arranged in one or more of the linear transmission systems or vertical stacks, the solid pharmaceutical products are selectively transmitted into individual product package blister cavities or into product package templates having locations corresponding to the blister package cavities.

摘要: A packaging machine includes a grouper section having changeable lane sizes and a dual servo grouper that separates product into product sets and allow the product sets to accelerate to the lane chain speed in a controlled manner. The grouper section further includes disappearing lugs that pivot into the lanes via a cam surface provided in the lanes. The product rides upon a raised surface of the cam surface as the lug pushes the product set together down the lane, thus ensuring that no gaps are provided between product set members. A gripper/grid section of the packaging machine includes a bars that travel about a carousel with a gripper head assembly and a grid assembly pair moving up and down the bars as defined by cam surfaces within the gripper/grid section. The grid section is presented below the product set such that the product set is fed through the grid section in a one-way trip into a case. The gripper head assembly cam device and the case feed section both include height adjustment assemblies.

摘要: In a system of packaging of foodstuffs in containers (12), each container (12) has a closure of aluminium/LDPE laminate formed with a central tear panel (322) which either has a pull-tab (402) rivetted thereto or is connected to a pull-tab (321) at an edge of the closure (1) by a narrow tear strip (323) extending up, over and down the rim of the container (12). The closures (1) are conveyed in horizontal positions pneumatically from a closure-manufacturing machine towards a downwardly inclined, vibrating, tranpsort box (110) and tilted pneumatically into vertical positions as they approached the box (110) for stacking in the box (110). On a packaging machine, the box (110) is pointed obliquely downwards and emptied by vibration to cause the closures (1) to slide from the box (110) onto a downwardly and then upwardly inclined guide surface ready for transfer to the containers (12). Bottom-closed containers (12) advance side-by-side in rows (235, 236) which are divided into rows (231-234) for filling and top-closing. The dividing mechanism (118) includes transverse belts (249) which can grip the containers (12) horizontally between them and can laterally outwardly reject faulty containers (12). The dividing mechanism is followed by an unloading device (119) comprising suction cups (278) mounted upon a modified 'Watt' linkage converting rotary drive motion into approximately rectilinear motion of the cups (278), the linkage having no exposed sliding surfaces. The containers (12) are advanced through the filling and top-closing stations by a chain conveyor (68) with leading and trailing bars (296 and 292) resiliently gripping the containers (12) between them and with lower trailing bars (299) pushing lower portions of the container (12). Horizontal guide members (300, 301) guiding the bars (299) and the containers (12) are vertically adjustable, to adjust for containers (12) of various heights. A discharge belt conveyor (70) has lanes (231-234) for approved top-closed containers (12) alternating with reject lanes (311) into which selected containers (12) can be rejected by inclined rejecting plates (317).
