Abstract: Described are examples for deploying workloads in a cloud-computing environment. In an aspect, based on a desired number of workloads of a process to be executed in a cloud-computing environment and based on one or more failure probabilities, an actual number of workloads of the process to execute in the cloud-computing environment to provide a level of service can be determined and deployed. In another aspect, a standby workload can be executed as a second instance of the process without at least a portion of the separate configuration used by the multiple workloads, and based on detecting termination of one of multiple workloads, the standby workload can be configured to execute based on the separate configuration of the separate instance of the process corresponding to the one of the multiple workloads.

Abstract: A sensor subsystem for vehicles, such as autonomous driving vehicles, has two network ports for which each network port is connectable to one of two in-vehicle computers (IVCs) for control, configuration, status and data transfers between the sensor subsystem and the two IVCs. The two IVCs can be structured as redundant IVCs. The sensor subsystem can replicate sensor data to the redundant IVCs. The sensor data can be raw image data, encoded image data, processed perception data, or a combination of the data. The two IVCs can be implemented with a modular design with each IVC disposed on a platform separate from the platform on which the second of the two redundant IVCs is disposed. The two IVCs can be replaced separately to reduce repair or replacement cost.

Abstract: Examples described herein relate to a network interface device that comprises circuitry, when operational, to select a platform to execute a function and based on load of the platform, selectively cause the function to execute on one or more other platforms to attempt to achieve or finish before the time-to-completion. In some examples, the circuitry is to detect progress of function execution to determine whether completion of execution of the function is predicted to not finish within the time-to-completion and cause the function to execute on one or more other platforms based on completion of execution of the function predicted to not finish within the time-to-completion.

Abstract: A lockstep controller operates a lockstep system of three or more CPU-GPU pairs, comparing the outputs from the CPU-GPU pairs and, by way of a majority vote, provides the output for the lockstep system. Based on comparing the outputs, if one of the CPU-GPU pairs provides outputs that disagree with the majority outputs, it can be switched out of the lockstep system. The removed CPU is replaced by a backup CPU. So that the backup CPU can be part of a CPU-GPU pair, a portion of the address space from the GPU of one of the other CPU-GPU pairs is assigned to the backup CPU to operate as a replacement CPU-GPU pair, while the CPU already associated with this GPU retains another portion of the GPU's address space to continue operating as a CPU-GPU pair.
