Abstract: Described are examples for deploying workloads in a cloud-computing environment. In an aspect, based on a desired number of workloads of a process to be executed in a cloud-computing environment and based on one or more failure probabilities, an actual number of workloads of the process to execute in the cloud-computing environment to provide a level of service can be determined and deployed. In another aspect, a standby workload can be executed as a second instance of the process without at least a portion of the separate configuration used by the multiple workloads, and based on detecting termination of one of multiple workloads, the standby workload can be configured to execute based on the separate configuration of the separate instance of the process corresponding to the one of the multiple workloads.

Abstract: A system comprising one or more computers implements a synthetic sensor service configured to deploy synthetic sensors to in-vehicle computing devices implementing an in- vehicle distributed computing environment. A synthetic sensor may be placed monolithically at a single computing device (e.g. ECU) in the vehicle, or may be modularly placed on multiple computing devices (e.g. multiple ECUs) of the vehicle that each have resources or inputs that the synthetic sensor requires. The modular components of the synthetic sensor may execute in a runtime environment of the in-vehicle distributed computing environment, such that the modular components function as a unified synthetic sensor even though they are placed on different computing devices of the vehicle (e.g. different ECUs).

The techniques involve identifying a group of cluster resources from a plurality of cluster resources of the application environment, the plurality of cluster resources being constructed and arranged to provide a plurality of services. The techniques further involve forming an application slice having the group of cluster resources. The techniques further involve deploying the application slice to provide services. Certain techniques provide a platform that allows operators to build application slices (or application overlays) that are a way of grouping application pods (or containers) based on one or more organizing principles such as velocity of deployment, security, governance, etc.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and software that distribute service requests from a Network Function (NF) service consumer. In one embodiment, the NF service consumer queries an NF repository function to discover a plurality of NF service producers, and receives NF profiles for the NF service producers. Based on the NF profiles, the NF service consumer arranges the NF service producers based locality. For a locality, the NF service consumer identifies one or more NF groups that share a priority value, apportions a workload for the NF service consumer into group workload shares for the NF groups based on the priority values for the NF groups, and apportions the group workload shares into NF workload shares for the NF service producers within the NF groups. NF service consumer then distributes service requests among the NF service producers of one or more localities based on the group workload shares and the NF workload shares.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are system, apparatus, article of manufacture, method, and/or computer program product embodiments for monitoring long-standing computing resources. An apparatus may operate by receiving a cloud monitoring notification, where the cloud monitoring notification may indicate an occurrence of a monitored condition. The apparatus may then operate by scanning a cluster computing system for resource having a client assigned resource identifier and a computing resource attribute based on a resource identifier scan parameter and a resource attribute scan parameter. The apparatus may further operate by generating a resource notification request based on the scanning of the cluster computing system and transmitting the resource notification request to a communications system to notify a user that the resource has a computing resource attribute that match the resource attribute scan parameter.

Using these techniques, a processing system is able to provide different configurations of the processing unit to support different types of workloads, thereby conserving system resources. Further, by exposing the different configurations as different virtual processing units, the processing system is able to use existing device drivers or other system infrastructure to implement the different processing unit configurations.

Abstract: A computing node includes a NIC and processing circuitry configured to select a subset of computing resources from a set of available computing resources to initiate a parameter sweep associated with a parameter sweep request received. A plurality of settings is applied to each computing resource of the subset to generate a plurality of resource mappings during the parameter sweep. Each resource mapping of the plurality of resource mappings indicates at least one computing resource of the subset and a corresponding at least one setting of the plurality of settings. Telemetry information for the subset of computing resources is retrieved, the telemetry information is generated during the parameter sweep. A resource mapping of the plurality of resource mappings is selected based on a comparison of the telemetry information with an SLO. A reconfiguration of the available computing resources is performed based on the selected resource mapping.

Abstract: A technique performs load balancing self adjustment within an application environment. The technique involves, while nodes of the application environment load balance traffic among clusters that provide services for an application in accordance with a first load balancing configuration, sensing application environment metrics. The technique further involves performing a self adjustment operation that generates a second load balancing configuration based on the application environment metrics, the second load balancing configuration being different from the first load balancing configuration. The technique further involves deploying the second load balancing configuration among the nodes to enable the nodes to load balance the traffic among the clusters that provide the services for the application in accordance with second load balancing configuration in place of the first load balancing configuration.

Transmission of a third request (60) is initiated towards a third node (30). The third node (30) manages the at least one FaaS platform. The third request (60) is to configure the at least one FaaS platform to run the software.
