    Abstract: A processing unit [100] is configured differently based on an identified workload [200, 225], and each configuration of the processing unit is exposed to software (e.g., to a device driver [103]) as a different virtual processing unit [111. 112]. Using these techniques, a processing system is able to provide different configurations of the processing unit to support different types of workloads, thereby conserving system resources. Further, by exposing the different configurations as different virtual processing units, the processing system is able to use existing device drivers or other system infrastructure to implement the different processing unit configurations.

    Abstract: There is provided a method for handling the running of software in a network, which is performed by a first node (10) in response to a first request (40) to run software using at least one infrastructure component and at least one function component. Transmission of a second request (50) is initiated towards a second node (20). The second node (20) manages the at least one infrastructure component. The second request (50) is to deploy the at least one infrastructure component and comprises information indicative of at least one function-as-a-service (FaaS) platform implemented by the at least one infrastructure component to be used to run the software. Transmission of a third request (60) is initiated towards a third node (30). The third node (30) manages the at least one FaaS platform. The third request (60) is to configure the at least one FaaS platform to run the software.
