摘要: Batteries including electrochemical cells, associated components, and arrangements thereof are generally described. In some aspects, batteries with phase change materials that can facilitate heat transfer within the battery (e.g., from an electrochemical cell to a component of a housing of the battery) are described. In some instances, the phase change material is in thermal communication with a thermally conductive solid article portion (e.g., a cooling fin). In some embodiments, the batteries include a multiplexing switch apparatus. Such a multiplexing switch apparatus may be used to selectively discharge one or more electrochemical cells of the battery.

摘要: Integrated energy storage system including a thermal energy storage coupled with a liquid metal battery storage and a cryogenic energy storage and related methods are described. An example integrated energy storage system includes a liquid metal battery storage, a cryogenic energy storage configured to store energy using a liquefied cryogen, a thermal energy storage, and a control system. The control system is configured to cause selective transfer of heat from the thermal energy storage to at least one battery unit associated with the liquid metal battery storage. The control system is configured to during a first mode associated with the cryogenic energy storage, cause selective transfer of heat from the cryogenic energy storage to the thermal energy storage. The control system is configured to during a second mode associated with the cryogenic energy storage, cause selective transfer of heat from the thermal energy storage to the cryogenic energy storage.

The heat dissipation layer can comprise at least one of a polymer, a phase change material, and/or a high thermal conduction material configured to dissipate heat in or above a normal battery cell operating range.

摘要: An integrated, unitary battery pack may be formed and used as part of the structural support for a vehicle frame. The unitary battery pack includes arrays cells having all positive and negative electrical terminals aligned in-plane on a common face of the product assembly. The unitary battery pack includes cooling components for passively or actively cooling the cell arrays. The unitary battery pack is encased in a potting material that allows that forms part of the structure support for the unitary battery pack. The unitary batter pack may be integrated into the vehicle with or without additional support structures.

摘要: Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Temperierung einer Batterieanordnung wobei die Batterieanordnung mit einem integrierten Sorptionswärmespeicher thermisch gekoppelt wird. Bei einer Desorptionsphase des Sorptionswärmespeichers erfolgt ein Ausheizen des Sorptionsmaterials mit einem Austreiben eines Fluids während einer Wärmeabgabe der Batterieanordnung bei einer elektrischen Entladung und/oder elektrischen Aufladung. Es erfolgt eine Kondensation des aus dem Sorptionsmaterial ausgetriebenen Fluids in einem Kondensator mit einer Wärmesenke. Bei einer Resorption des Fluids im Sorptionsmaterial ist ein autarkes Erwärmen der Batterie ausführbar. Eine Vorrichtung zur Temperierung einer Batterieanordnung umfasst einen mit der Batterieanordnung thermisch gekoppelten Sorptionswärmespeicher mit einem Fluid und einem Sorptionsmaterial, wobei die Batterieanordnung als eine Wärmequelle für ein thermisches Ausheizen des in dem Sorptionswärmespeicher enthaltenden Sorptionsmaterials zum Austreiben des Fluids ausgebildet ist und wobei der Sorptionswärmespeicher als eine Wärmequelle für ein autarkes Erwärmen der Batterie durch eine Resorption des Fluids im Sorptionsmaterial ausgebildet ist.

At least a part of the cooling fluid channel (23) comprises a material having a melting point above 100ºC.
