Abstract:
To provide an electronic device socket able to shorten conductive paths between terminals of an electronic device and contacts of a circuit board. An electronic device socket (1) wherein a socket part 10 electrically connecting a plurality of terminals of an electronic device to corresponding contacts of a circuit board has a plurality of through holes 105 arranged corresponding to the positions of the terminals. Each through hole 105 has an elastic member 107 comprised of a coil spring, provided with an upper part having elasticity along a longitudinal direction of the through hole and a lower part able to form a conductive path substantially parallel to an extension direction of the through hole, a plunger 108 having conductivity biased from the elastic member toward the top surface in a second state where the electronic device is attached and the terminals and contacts of the circuit board are electrically connected, and a conductive film 106 formed at an inner surface of the through hole so as to electrically connect with near a part of the elastic member where a upper part of the elastic member and the plunger contact each other, and a lower part of the elastic member when the elastic member is compressed.
Abstract:
An electrical connector (16; 18) is configured for mounting on a circuit board (12, 14) having first and second vias (54a, 54b; 82a, 82b). The electrical connector comprises a housing (40; 60) having a mounting face (46; 68) for mounting along the circuit board, and first and second signal terminals (26; 70) held by the housing. The first and second signal terminals comprise respective first and second mounting contacts (30a, 30b; 74a, 74b) extending outward from the mounting face of the housing. The first and second mounting contacts are configured to be received within the first and second vias, respectively, of the circuit board. The first and second mounting contacts extend respective different first and second lengths (L 1 , L 2 ; L 4 , L 5 ) from the mounting face of the housing.
Abstract:
Disclosed are an electrical connector and a method for providing transmit and receive electrical signal contacts to reduce or minimize total crosstalk. Such methods may be particularly suitable for connectors having larger near-end crosstalk aggressors than far-end crosstalk aggressors. The electrical signal contacts may be subdivided on a substrate, such as a midplane PCB, and through the opposing connectors, such that the transmitting contacts are all on one side of the connector and the receiving contacts are on the other side of the connector, with a buffer between them. The buffer may comprise a plurality of 'dummy' or 'buffer' contacts, which may be unassigned or devoid of electrical connectivity. This is one step beyond the primary assignment of contacts as single-ended or differential signal contacts. The contacts themselves may also receive a secondary assignment according to their desired transmitting, receiving, or buffering function.
Abstract:
A terminal for an electrical connector includes a lower portion having a leg and a tail. A notch is provided between the leg and the tail of the lower portion. The notch allows the tail to flex toward and away from the leg. Thus, the tail moves laterally relative to printed circuit board to which the electrical connector is attached.
Abstract:
To provide a terminal mounting structure, the electrical continuation and the joining strength of which are sufficiently high although the structure is simple, further the reliability of which is high even when it is used over a long period of time and to provide a terminal mounting method therefor. A terminal (3) is connected and continued to a conductor (2) such as a heating wire provided on a substrate (1). Terminal (3) includes: a fixing portion (31); elastic portions (32) extending from fixing portion (31); and a substrate contact portion (33) provided in elastic portion (32) so that substrate contact portion (33) can be protruded with respect to substrate (1), and electrically connected to conductor (2). Each fixing portion (31) is made to adhere to substrate (1) by a joining means such as a double-sided adhesive tape (4). Substrate contact portion (33) of terminal (3) is made to adhere to substrate (1) by adhesive (5) under the condition that substrate contact portion (33) comes into contact with conductor (2) by a repulsive force generated by an elastic displacement of elastic portion (32).
Abstract:
An electrical terminal (10) of the type to be inserted into an aperture of an electrical panel member comprises a base (12) and an insertion portion (14) extending from the base to an end portion (26) of the terminal. A slit (20) is formed through the insertion portion. The slit extends from the base to the end portion, thereby defining a compliant portion (18) having a first leg (22) and a second leg (24). A substantially central axis (44) extends between opposite ends (68, 70) of the slit. A segment (40) of the first leg is deformed in one direction away from the axis, and a segment (40) of the second leg is deformed in an opposite direction away from the axis, wherein the deformed first leg segment and the deformed second leg segment are offset from the center of the slit.
