    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to interactive devices, media systems, and device control. An interactive device that is capable of interaction with a user of a media stream receives interaction control information related to the media stream, and an interaction response by the interactive device is generated based on the interaction control information. The interaction response is separate from playback of the media stream. The interaction control information could be conveyed with the media information, from a server for example. A control device could synchronize the interaction control information with the media stream and convey the interaction control information synchronized with the media stream. A non-transitory processor-readable medium could be used to store a media stream that is playable by a media player for presentation to a user, and interaction control information that is configured to be unplayable by the media player and directed to an interactive device.

    Abstract: A multi-body self-propelled device can include a drive body and a coupled head. The drive body can include a spherical housing and an internal drive system within the spherical housing to propel the multi-body self-propelled device. The drive body can further include a magnet support assembly comprising a rotating portion including a plurality of magnets and a stationary portion comprising one or more magnets. The drive body can further include a yaw motor to drive the rotating portion of the magnet support assembly. The coupled head can include (i) a corresponding rotating portion comprising a plurality of magnets in magnetic interaction, through the spherical housing, with the plurality of magnets of the magnet support assembly, and (ii) a corresponding stationary portion comprising one or more magnets in magnetic interaction with the one or more magnets of the magnet support assembly.

    Abstract: A toy system is described in which a data signal is encoded using spread spectrum technology to form a spread signal which is combined with an audio track to form a modified audio track. The modified audio track is then transmitted as an acoustic signal to a toy having an electro-acoustic transducer for converting the acoustic signal into an electrical signal which is then despread in order to regenerate the data signal, and the toy responds to the data signal. By using spread spectrum technology to spread the data signal over a wide frequency range, the spread signal in the modified audio track can be made virtually inaudible to a listener. The techniques described have relevance to acoustic communication systems other than toy systems.
