A gas-insulated low- or medium-voltage load break switch (1) comprises: a housing (2) defining a housing volume for holding an insulation gas at an ambient pressure; a first arcing contact (10) and a second arcing contact (20) arranged within the housing volume, the first and second arcing contacts (10, 20) being movable in relation to each other along an axis (12) of the load break switch (1) and defining a quenching region (52) in which an arc (50) is formed during a current breaking operation; a pressurizing system (40) having a pressurizing chamber (42) arranged within the housing volume for pressurizing a quenching gas from an ambient pressure p 0 to a quenching pressure p quench during the current breaking operation; and a nozzle system (30) arranged within the housing volume for blowing the pressurized quenching gas in a subsonic flow pattern from the pressurization chamber (42) onto the arc (50) formed in the quenching region (52) during the current breaking operation. The present invention relates to a device for interrupting non-short circuit currents only, and in particular relates to a disconnector, more particularlyhigh voltage disconnector, or to an earthing switch, more particularly make-proof earthing switch, and further relates to a low voltage circuit breaker. The device comprises at least two contacts (10, 12) movable in relation to each other between a closed state and an open state and defining an arcing region(26),in which an arc (27) is generated during a current interrupting operation and in which an arc-quenching medium (17) comprising an organofluorine compound is present. According to the invention, a counter-arcing component (19) is allocated to the arcing region(26), the counter-arcing component (19) being designed for counteracting the generation of an arc (27) and/or being designed for supporting the extinction of an arc(27).

Gas-insulated high voltage puffer breaker (1) comprising a puffer unit (3) with a movable piston (4) running in a puffer cylinder (5) and delimiting a puffer volume (6). A piston (4) and a first contact member (2) are attached to a piston stem (9). An electric arc is extinguishable in an arcing zone (13) when the first contact member (2) moves from a first position to a second position. The puffer volume (6) is fluidly connected to a gas nozzle (12) by a gas channel (14) such that the puffer volume (6) comprises the gas channel (14) as well as a portion (15) of the puffer cylinder (5). The gas channel (14) is provided radially outside of the puffer (5) cylinder between a puffer cylinder wall (17) delimiting the puffer cylinder (5) and a wall structure (18) of the puffer unit (3).

Alternatively or additionally at least a second exhaust volume (8) following the second arcing contact (4b) is provided. The electrical switching device further comprises an exterior volume (9) surrounding the exhaust tube (6), the first exhaust volume (7) and the second exhaust volume (8). The exhaust tube (6), the first exhaust volume (7), the second exhaust volume (8) and the exterior volume (9) form a travel path for a fluid travelling through them. The invention relates to a high-voltage circuit breaker having an interrupter unit which is surrounded at a distance by a gas-tight housing (16) filled with a smothering gas. The interrupter unit comprises two arcing contacts (1, 2) between which an arc produced when a current is interrupted is blown at by a blowing device (5) emitting a smothering gas. Thereafter said gas flows at least partly in the axial direction of the arcing contacts (1, 2). According to the invention a flow deflection device (9, 10, 11) which is different from the blowing device (5) is provided for in the flow area of the smothering gas which deflects the smothering gas flow radially outwards by more than 90 DEG .
