A composite magnetic material containing a soft magnetic powder and an organic binder in which the soft magnetic powder is dispersed and which has an electromagnetic interference suppression effect. Powder having a good heat conductivity is further dispersed in the organic binder to provide a highly heat-conductive composite magnetic material. The composite magnetic material can be used as a material of a heat dissipation sheet of an electronic device or as a material of a heatsink having an electromagnetic interference suppression effect. As the organic binder, thermoplastic polyimide or liquid crystal polymer can be used. As the powder having good heat conductivity, powder of Als2O3, A1N, cubic BN, insulating SiC or heat-conductive reinforcing material (Kapton) can be used.

A composite magnetic sheet having excellent electromagnetic wave absorption characteristics is manufactured simply by rolling a pulverized mixture of powder comprising flat particles of a soft magnetic material and an organic binder by two opposed rolls. A plurality of such composite magnetic sheets having roughened lamination surfaces are stacked and the sheets are rolled to attain a desired thickness. By rolling two composite magnetic sheets with a mesh metal layer sandwiched therebetween, a mechanically strong, electromagnetic interference-restraining sheet is easily obtained. In order to reduce the reflection and permeation of electromagnetic waves on and through the composite magnetic sheet, the upper and lower surfaces thereof are subjected to an embossing process.

A composite magnetic body is obtained without the use of halogen-based or halogen-containing materials, such as, halogen-based binding agent of halogen-based resins or elastomers, and bromine-based fire retardants. The composite magnetic body (1) comprises a soft magnetic powder (2) and a silicone rubber (3). The silicone rubber (3) should preferably be a solid silicone rubber or a chemically setting liquid silicone rubber. An electromagnetic interference suppressing body is obtained using this composite magnetic body.
