The invention relates to a process and an installation for manufacturing lightweight concrete for masonry and insulations used for civil engineering and industrial constructions. The process consists in mixing for homogenizing the dry components of the concrete at a mixing pressure (P1) higher than the atmospheric pressure (P0), introducing some fluid mixture components, such as water, air entrainers and additives, at a pressure (P2) higher than the mixing pressure (P1), homogenizing mixing for a mixing period (T1), thereafter the mixer (1) is depressurized at the atmospheric environment pressure (P0) in order to expand the mixture. The pressure is lowered to a slight vacuumatic pressure (P3) and a slow mixing is carried out for the duration (T2) for homogenoulsy expanding the mixture and extracting the big defective air bubbles from the mixture. The expanded mixture is discharged with a uniform flow controlled by means of the vacuuming pressure (P3) concomitantly with injecting adhesives and latices (24) into the mixture, in a mould (4) subjected to a slight vibration for a duration (T3), for uniformly dispersing the injected products in the mixture. In the mould (4) there is completed the concrete setting and maturation process. The installation consists of a bitruncated cone shaped mixer (1) with tapered ends (10), wherein there are secured two semiaxes, in one of the semiaxes (5) there being mounted a distributor (2) for feeding some fluid components. An opening (12) for feeding the solid components and discharging the mixture is machined inside a threaded nozzle (13) provided with a thread plug (14). A discharge device (17) is coupled with the mixer (1) through a sleeve joint (18). The discharge device (17) is equipped with an installation for injecting adhesives and latices (24) into the raw mixture (22) during the discharge into a mould (4) which is moved on a system of rollers (23).

A reformed sulfur solidified substance producing system of the present invention includes a reformed sulfur producing tank 3 which receives and mixes molten sulfur from a molten sulfur tank 1 and sulfur reforming agent from a sulfur reforming agent tank 2 to thereby produce reformed sulfur, and at the same time, which heats the inside accommodated substance to a predetermined temperature or higher, a reformed sulfur intermediate material tank 5 which receives and mixes reformed sulfur from the reformed sulfur producing tank 3 and a fine aggregate from a fine aggregate hot bin 4 to thereby produce reformed sulfur intermediate material, and at the same time, which heats an inside accommodated substance to a predetermined temperature or higher, a mulling device 7 which receives and mulls reformed sulfur intermediate material from the reformed sulfur intermediate material tank 5 and a coarse aggregate from a coarse aggregate hot bin 6, and further, heats an inside mulled substance to a predetermined temperature or higher, and a pouring device 8 which receives and stores the raw material mulled by the mulling device 7 and heats the same to a predetermined temperature or higher, and further, measures the inside raw material and pours the same into a mold form 36. With this, it is possible to produce a reformed sulfur solidified substance which can be handled as a non-dangerous substance (here, the non-dangerous substance is a substance which does not have ignitability or an incombustible substance), and which can be easily transferred.

In a mixer operating under vacuum for the preparation of a mixture for the production of blocks of stone material, for permitting the addition of additives, in particular colouring agents, during the mixing cycle without having to restore the atmospheric pressure in the mixture and then to add the additive and thereafter to provide again vacuum, there is mounted on the vacuum-tight cover (18) of the mixer at least one metering device (20), which is preferably also maintained under the same vacuum, comprising a hopper (30,32) which is closed at the bottom by an element or cylinder (42) which has a plurality of cavities (50) suitable for being filled with the additive or colouring agent contained in the hopper (30,32). The plurality of cavities (50) are arranged alternately with angular offsetting of 180° so that, by rotating the cylinder (42) through 180°, the cavities (50) filled with the additive are caused to be discharged into the mixing chamber (10) of the mixer without communication being established between the mixing chamber (10), which is under vacuum, and the outside, which is under atmospheric pressure.

An asphalt drum mixer (10) includes a rotating drum (12) within a fixed sleeve (32) which defines an annular chamber (34), and mixing tips (50, 58) mounted on the drum and in the annular chamber. The mixing tips (50, 58) pass through the hot mix asphalt laying in the bottom of the annular chamber (34) and mix and shear the hot mix asphalt and increase its residence time in the drum mixer (10). In one embodiment, the mixing tips may comprise curved scoop-like elements (50) which lift the hot mix asphalt higher than conventional paddles and greatly increase residence time of the mix in the drum (12) over conventional paddles. The quality of the mix is thus greatly improved. In another embodiment the mixing tips may comprise curved scoop-like elements (58) having slots (64) which greatly increase sheering of the hot mix asphalt, thereby further improving the quality of the mix.
