It discloses a procedure and device to provide a foam insulating product, based on normal or anti-static latex, which especially good use can be made of as a thermal and acoustic insulating material, and also as a waterproofing and sealant material to be positioned directly on the constructed floor, under the parquet, laminated floor, floating floor or similar material of the floor of a home or other enclosure. The manufacturing procedures consists of a succession of phases as is conventional in the foaming processes of these materials, to which a support film provision phase has been added, of plastic or aluminium material, directly positioned on canvas conveyor (1), so that the foam compound (6) is directly poured on said support film (7), and a phase to provide a flange (13), longitudinally extended throughout the entire edge of the insulating product (9) and attached thereto by sticking. The device additionally includes a support film feeder (8), together with a film tightening device (12) to avoid creases from forming there, and means of provision and sticking of said side flange. The tight bonding between the film and the latex-based foam material is produced in the vulcanization and drying phase inside the corresponding furnace (4).

The invention relates to a process for manufacturing insulating panels using a layer of polymer foam (10) and a layer of mineral wool (12). In order to obtain uniform expansion of the resin forming the insulating foam, an interface (15) is applied onto the fibrous layer of mineral wool so as to reduce the frictional resistance to the resin as it expands. Advantageously this interface may be obtained by spraying a film of the same resin as the foam.

The invention relates to a process for manufacturing a self-extinguishing cable comprising at least one transmissive element and at least one flame-retardant coating in a position radially external to said at least one transmissive element, wherein said at least one coating includes an expanded flame-retardant polymeric material comprising:(a) at least one expandable polymer; (b) at least one expanding agent; (c) at least one flame-retardant inorganic filler, in an amount of from 100 parts by weight to 250 parts by weight with respect to 100 parts by weight of said at least one expandable polymer; the process comprising the following steps: (i) feeding the flame-retardant polymeric material to an extruding apparatus, therein melting and mixing it; (ii) passing the flame-retardant polymeric material obtained in step (i) through at least one static mixer; (iii) depositing by extrusion the flame-retardant polymeric material obtained in step (ii) onto said at least one transmissive element conveyed to said extruding apparatus. The process of the invention allows to optimise the homogeneity and to maximize the expansion of said flameretardant polymeric material. The cable so obtained is provided with both good mechanical and flame-retardant properties.

A method for making a plate-like fibre-reinforced product to be used as building or packing material, the method comprising: placing fibres on a lower laminate; applying a binding agent on the fibres so that the fibres are surrounded by the binding agent; transferring the fibres with binding agent between the lower laminate and an upper laminate between lower and upper rotating pressing plates (4, 3); allowing the binding agent to foam up, expand and harden between the upper and lower pressing plates. In order to economically manufacture such a product with desired physical and mechanical properties, the method comprises the steps according to which the fibres are made into a three-dimensional cohesive fibre mat of fibres bound together, the fibre mat having a moisture content of 5% at the most before the binding agent is applied onto the fibre mat, the binding agent is applied onto the fibre mat and the obtained mixture is subjected to a pressure of at least 0.8 bar and 5 bar at the most and is allowed to harden to a plate-like product having a thickness of 10 to 150 mm; and the lower and upper laminate are removed from the hardening product. The invention also relates to a manufacturing apparatus and a plate-like product.
