摘要: In a refillable injection device for use with a dilatation catheter (10), a large bore syringe (30) is used to refill a small bore syringe (32) without disconnecting the syringe assembly from the catheter. A one-way valve (56) prevents fluid from moving in the opposite direction. Movement of the small bore syringe plunger (40) produces a high pressure, low volume flow and can be repeated if necessary after the small bore syringe (32) is refilled. Subsequent movement of the large bore syringe plunger (36) produces a low pressure, high volume flow.

摘要: A dual dilatation catheter assembly (11) having a first dilatation catheter (12) and a second dilatation catheter (13). The first dilatation catheter comprised of a first tubular element (16) having a lumen (17) extending therethrough and a second tubular element (18) extending coaxially over the first tubular element and forming a lumen (19) extending between the first and second tubular elements. A balloon (21) is carried by the second tubular element and has its interior in communication with the lumen extending between the first and second tubular elements. The second dilatation catheter extends through the lumen in the first tubular element of the first dilatation catheter and is comprised of a flexible elongate tubular element having a lumen extending therethrough, an inflatable balloon carried by the first tubular element of the second dilatation catheter, the balloon of the second dilatation catheter having a collapsed diameter which is less than the interior diameter of the lumen of which is less than the interior diameter of the lumen of the first tubular element of the first dilatation catheter whereby the second dilatation catheter can be inserted and removed from the first dilatation catheter.

摘要: The balloon catheter according to the present invention is one is provided with a catheter shaft having flexibility with a lumen formed inside; a balloon that is disposed at the distal end side of the catheter shaft and in communication with the lumen; a fluid regulating portion that passes a fluid that is supplied from a fluid supply source to the balloon and, simultaneous with the supply from the fluid supply source being stopped, prevents backflow of the fluid that is supplied to the balloon to the fluid supply source side; and a fluid releasing portion that releases the fluid that is supplied to the balloon to outside of the balloon.

摘要: A dilation catheter system is provided to dilate the ostium of a paranasal sinus; or to dilate some other anatomical passageway (e.g., within the ear, nose, or throat, etc.). The dilation catheter system may include a dilation catheter, a dilator, a guide catheter, and an inflator. The dilation catheter may be positioned between the dilator and the inflator. The guide catheter may be inserted within the affected passageway to allow the dilator to be positioned through the guide catheter and into the affected passageway. The inflator may then be actuated to transfer fluid from the inflator, through the dilation catheter, and into the dilator. The transfer of fluid may inflate the dilator to an expanded state to open or dilate the affected passageway.

摘要: A method and apparatus for treating a stricture in a body lumen. The method comprises (a) sensing pressure being exerted by a treatment device on the stricture, (b) determining if enough force is being exerted on the stricture, (c) if enough force is being exerted on the stricture, timing the application of enough force, (d) determining if too much force is being exerted by the treatment device on the stricture, (e) if too much force is being applied to the stricture, decrementing the force being applied to the stricture, (f) determining if not enough force is being applied to the stricture, (g) if not enough force is being applied to the stricture incrementing the force being applied to the stricture, and (h) repeating (a)-(g) until (i) a desired pressure has been maintained on the tissue for a desired time. The apparatus comprises a device for exerting pressure on the stricture, a controller for controlling the amount of pressure the device exerts on the stricture, and a pressure sensor for sensing the pressure being exerted on the stricture by the device.
