    摘要: A low pressure discharge lamp (2) according to the invention is provided with a discharge vessel (5) which is closed in a gastight manner and which contains an ionizable filling. The lamp (2) is further provided with electrodes (6a, 6b) for maintaining an electric discharge inside the discharge vessel. At least one of the electrodes (6a) has a coil (60a) of a refractory metal which is electrically connected to current supply conductors (7a, 7a') which extend to outside the discharge vessel. The coil (60a) has a central portion (61a) which is coated with an electron-emitting material and an end portion (62a, 62a') on either side thereof, which end portions are covered with a protecting material which is mainly formed by one or more oxides of calcium and/or magnesium. The measure of the invention enables a significant increase in lamp life by simple means.

    摘要: A low-pressure mercury discharge lamp of the invention comprises an envelope (1) that encloses a discharge space (2) in a gastight manner. The envelope is provided with a luminescent material (4) which is excitable with radiation of a wavelength of 254 nm. The envelope (1) is further provided with a further luminescent material (5) which has an excitation spectrum of which the value for a wavelength of 436 nm amounts to at least 10 % of that at a wavelenght of 254 nm, and which further luminescent material has an emission spectrum with a maximun in a wavelength range from 580 to 720 nm. The lamp of the invention has in a dimmed state of operation a color point of which the value of the x-coordinate is higher than in the nominal state of operation.

    摘要: An electrode-to-ballast interconnection is provided in combination with a fluorescent lamp including a discharge tube (2) bent substantially in a plane. The discharge tube (2) is shaped at least in part to define a substantial portion of the boundary (4) of a zone (24) in the plane. The part of the tube (2) defining the boundary (4) includes at least one straight portion (6). The discharge tube (2) has a symmetry axis (8) in the plane and sealed tube ends (10) provided with electrodes, and the tube ends (10) re-enter said zone (24). A base housing (22) is laid within said zone (24) and receives the tube ends (10). The base housing (22) includes a ballast circuit which is located at least partly on a circuit board (14) positioned substantially parallel to the plane. The electrode-to-ballast interconnect comprises electrode-in-leads (16) which are connected to each electrode and embedded in the tube ends (10). Terminals (18) are anchored in and protruding from the circuit board (14). The electrode-in-leads (16) are pre-formed to a shape suitable for connecting to the terminals (18). Means is formed in the circuit board (14) for urging the electrode-in-leads (16) to the terminals (18) during assembly. The electrode-in-leads (16) and the terminals (18) are joined electrically and mechanically. In one embodiment of the invention, the base housing (22) protrudes at most half of the outer diameter of the discharge tube (2) from the space defined thereby.

    摘要: A fluorescent lamp capable of fully securing a portion for containing a mercury amalgam pellet and reliably preventing the mercury amalgam pellet from moving toward the inside a discharge tube, and a method for manufacturing the fluorescent lamp. The fluorescent lamp includes a glass tube 1 having a fluorescent substance layer 2 on the inner surface, a sealed portion 6 formed at an end of the glass tube 1, a slender glass tube 8 having an inner space that is in communication with the inside of the glass tube 1 and is not in communication with the outside of the glass tube 1, and a mercury amalgam pellet 7 contained in the slender glass tube 8. The slender glass tube 8 has a small-diameter part with an inner diameter smaller than the diameter of the mercury amalgam pellet 7 and a large-diameter part with an inner diameter larger than the diameter of the mercury amalgam pellet. The slender glass tube 8 is welded to the glass tube 1 so that the small-diameter part is placed in the sealed portion 6 and the large-diameter part is placed further away from the glass tube 1 than the smaller-diameter part.
