摘要: The technique for detecting extravasation during the injection of fluid into a patient involves the establishment of a baseline representing impedance at the zone of the injection prior to the injection starting. Extravasation is signaled when at least two characteristics appear. First is that the impedance varies from the baseline more than a predetermined amount in more than a predetermined number of discreet time slots called epochs herein. Second is that, the rate of change of the impedance, which is called the slop herein, is consistently greater than a predetermined amount.

摘要: A drainage system for draining bile comprises an elongate drainage catheter (12) with a distal segment (18) and a proximal segment (16). A first lumen (20) extends longitudinally through at least a portion of the distal catheter segment (18) and longitudinally through the entire length of the proximal catheter segment (16) and communicates with the exterior of the catheter through a plurality of openings (26) in the distal catheter segment (18). A second lumen (22) extends longitudinally solely through at least a portion of the proximal catheter segment (16) and communicates with the exterior of the catheter through a plurality of openings (24) formed in the proximal catheter segment (16). A drainage bag (14) is connected to the proximal ends of the two lumens and defines a bile reservoir (44). Two one-way reed valves (45,46) are provided in the drainage bag, one (45) being arranged to allow bile to enter into the reservoir (44) from the second lumen (22) and the other (46) being arranged to allow bile to exit from the reservoir (44) into the first lumen (20).

摘要: The present invention comprises devices, systems, methods, and computer program products for managing data related to the dispensing of contrast media as part of a medical procedure. The device and system provide a controller that is capable of communicating with a dispensing device so as to extract, arrange, process, and present a data set (e.g., a usage data set) from the dispensing device to a user such that the user may selectively monitor statistics related to the administration of contrast media, saline, or other consumables used during one or more dispensing operations. The method and computer program product for managing data related to the dispensing of contrast media may further allow for extraction, arrangement, processing, and presentation of the data set via the controller, via a user interface that is operably engaged with the dispensing device and/or via a computer network that may be in communication with the dispensing device.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a syringe filling station that can fill a syringe with a specified volume of fluid. In one embodiment, the syringe filling station comprises a reservoir attachment, a fluid delivery system, a syringe retaining guide, and a pump to move fluid from a reservoir to a syringe. The fluid delivery system may comprise a sterile consumable cartridge that is insertable into the filling station and defines a fluid pathway from a reservoir to a syringe. The syringe filling station may also include a user interface. An operator can input commands into the user interface to specify the amount of fluid to dispense into the syringe. The user interface may be connected to a processor that controls the rate of pumping and thereby can fill a syringe with a desired amount of fluid. The filling station may also include sensors that detect air in the tubing, depletion of the reservoir, among other things.

摘要: A luer-type adapter has a dual instead of a single set of engaging screw threads. A proximal and a distal screw thread on the hub engage proximal and distal screw threads on the collar of the connector to provide at least twice the engaging or sealing force between the tapered surfaces of the stem and hub which are forced together by rotating the collar relative to the hub to engage the two sets of threads. The diameters of the engaging distal screw threads have to be sufficiently great so that the proximal screw thread on the hub can pass under the distal screw thread on the collar in order to effect proximal as well as distal engagement. An O-ring mounted on an untapered distal segment of the stem engages an untapered inner hub surface to provide additional sealing force which is particularly useful where gas is being provided through the adapter.

摘要: This invention relates to a colonic residue tagging system, formulation, it and method for use in preparing an individual for a predetermined activity which requires tagging at least some colonic residue in a digestive tract such that a medically and/or diagnostically useful procedure can be performed on the difestive tract. Such predetermined activity includes, but is not limited to, colon screening. In one alternative embodiment, a dietary regimen comprising low residue food is coordinated with the colonic residue tagging regimen, prior to a predetermined activity, thereby resulting in tagged stool such that a medically or diagnostically useful procedure can be performed on the digestive tract. The present invention also provides an individual sufficient amounts of fluids and nutrition while minimizing the amount of stool formation prior to the predetermined activity.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a system, method, and computer program product for controlling the supply of a distending media (such as an insufflating gas) from a distending media source to an endoscopic device so as to prevent the excess venting and/or waste of distending media. More specifically the present invention provides for the detection of a pressure level within a lumen of an endoscopic device and adjusts a supply parameter of the distending media based at least in part on the detected pressure level, and in some cases on the relationship between the detected pressure level and a user-defined threshold.
