Abstract: A method of manufacturing a tranformer coil encapsulated in casting resin utilizing a disposable casting mold where the disposable mold acts both as a winding mandrel and as an inner mold shell (12) for resin encapsulation. The disposable casting mold may be oval shaped or circular shaped depending upon the desired shape of the coils to be encapsulated. The inner (12) and outer (24) mold shells are made from thin sheet metal and thus may be adjusted for the manufacture of a wide variety of sizes of oval shaped or circular shaped epoxy encapsulated coils. The inner mold (12) has flanges (12a) which may be secured mechanically. The ends of theinner mold support bars (18) are connected to spacer bars (20) bybolts. The outer mold (24) is of a one piece construction with an integrated dome and tap area (26). A pre-pregnated glass net (32) may be installed over the finished coil winding to provide anouter layer of glass net which may be applied radially.

Abstract: There is described a method and apparatus for controlling the combustion by-product formation rate in at least one burner of a fossil fuel fired power plant. The burner has an associated flame scanner which is focused on a small area of the burner flame to obtain an image signal of the flame. A flame signal that represents properties of temporal combustion in the visible light spectrum of the burner is generated from the image signal. Combustion turbulence at the burner is analyzed from the flame signal by a dynamic invariant that has a relationship to the combustion by-product values and different combustion by-product levels at the burner and the combustion turbulence is correlated to the combustion by-product formation rate at the burner. The method and apparatus can also be used to correlated the combustion turbulence at a multiplicity of burners to the associated combustion by-product formation rate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting mechanical problems in machinery used in a process. A model of the process is developed using a modeling technique such as advanced pattern recognition and the model is used to generate predicted values for a predetermined number of the operating parameters of the process and vibration parameters of the machinery. Statistical process control methods are used to determine if the difference between the predicted and actual measured values for one or more of the parameters exceeds a configured statistical limit. A rule set is used to indicate an actual or probable fault in the machinery.

Abstract: The actuator (2) can be used to apply fluids to the web of a papermaking machine. The actuator comprises a housing (4) having a first inlet (16) connectable to the fluid source and a second inlet (10) connectable to a pressure source. A resilient bellows structure (30) extends between the first and second inlets within the housing to define an internal region of the bellows structure in sealed communication with one of the first and second inlets and an external region of the bellows structure in sealed communication with the other inlet. A valve member (50) adapted to move with the bellows structure is provided to open and close the first inlet to vary the flow of fluid from the fluid source and maintain a pressure related to a balance of forces of the bellows structures. An outlet (58) from the housing in communication with the first inlet permits the exit of the flow of fluid to a flow controlling orifice. A pneumatic control signal provided to the second inlet controls expansion or contraction of the bellows structure.

Abstract: High oleic acid triglyceride compositions that comprise fatty acid components of at least 75 % oleic acid, less than 10 % diunsaturated fatty acid component; less than 3 % triunsaturated fatty acid component; and less than 8 % saturated fatty acid component; and having the properties of a dielectric strength of at least 35 KV/100 mil gap, a dissipation factor of less than 0.05 % at 25 DEG C, acidity of less than 0.03 mg KOH/g, electrical conductivity of less than 1 pS/m at 25 DEG C, a flash point of at least 250 DEG C and a pour point of at least -15 DEG C are disclosed. An electrical insulation fluid comprising the triglyceride composition is disclosed. Electrical apparatuses comprising the electrical insulation fluid and the use of electrical insulation fluid to provide insulation in electrical apparatuses are disclosed. A process for preparing the high oleic acid triglyceride composition is disclosed.
