Abstract:
An asset management server (16, 18) for a network of an enterprise. The enterprise has one or more assets and two or more data sources such as clients (14, 20) and servers (16, 18) and each source has a unique name for each asset. The server determines form an incoming message from the data sources about the assets which of the other data sources needs to receive the message and the unique name for the asset used by those sources. The server prepares the outgoing message to the sources.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a tranformer coil encapsulated in casting resin utilizing a disposable casting mold where the disposable mold acts both as a winding mandrel and as an inner mold shell (12) for resin encapsulation. The disposable casting mold may be oval shaped or circular shaped depending upon the desired shape of the coils to be encapsulated. The inner (12) and outer (24) mold shells are made from thin sheet metal and thus may be adjusted for the manufacture of a wide variety of sizes of oval shaped or circular shaped epoxy encapsulated coils. The inner mold (12) has flanges (12a) which may be secured mechanically. The ends of theinner mold support bars (18) are connected to spacer bars (20) bybolts. The outer mold (24) is of a one piece construction with an integrated dome and tap area (26). A pre-pregnated glass net (32) may be installed over the finished coil winding to provide anouter layer of glass net which may be applied radially.
Abstract:
There is described a method and apparatus for controlling the combustion by-product formation rate in at least one burner of a fossil fuel fired power plant. The burner has an associated flame scanner which is focused on a small area of the burner flame to obtain an image signal of the flame. A flame signal that represents properties of temporal combustion in the visible light spectrum of the burner is generated from the image signal. Combustion turbulence at the burner is analyzed from the flame signal by a dynamic invariant that has a relationship to the combustion by-product values and different combustion by-product levels at the burner and the combustion turbulence is correlated to the combustion by-product formation rate at the burner. The method and apparatus can also be used to correlated the combustion turbulence at a multiplicity of burners to the associated combustion by-product formation rate.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for detecting mechanical problems in machinery used in a process. A model of the process is developed using a modeling technique such as advanced pattern recognition and the model is used to generate predicted values for a predetermined number of the operating parameters of the process and vibration parameters of the machinery. Statistical process control methods are used to determine if the difference between the predicted and actual measured values for one or more of the parameters exceeds a configured statistical limit. A rule set is used to indicate an actual or probable fault in the machinery.
Abstract:
The actuator (2) can be used to apply fluids to the web of a papermaking machine. The actuator comprises a housing (4) having a first inlet (16) connectable to the fluid source and a second inlet (10) connectable to a pressure source. A resilient bellows structure (30) extends between the first and second inlets within the housing to define an internal region of the bellows structure in sealed communication with one of the first and second inlets and an external region of the bellows structure in sealed communication with the other inlet. A valve member (50) adapted to move with the bellows structure is provided to open and close the first inlet to vary the flow of fluid from the fluid source and maintain a pressure related to a balance of forces of the bellows structures. An outlet (58) from the housing in communication with the first inlet permits the exit of the flow of fluid to a flow controlling orifice. A pneumatic control signal provided to the second inlet controls expansion or contraction of the bellows structure.
Abstract:
A method and a system for managing one or more assets used by an enterprise over one or more of the phases of the asset lifecycle. Information about the asset and data from the operation of the asset is stored in a server local to the facility. That information and data is made available to an enterprise level server that may be hosted by the asset supplier or located at the enterprise or at a facility external to the enterprise but not at the asset supplier. A computer program when executed presents the user with one or more windows that each provides information about either a single phase for the asset or one or more phases. The user can navigate in a window to select the asset or facility and the specific information to be viewed.
Abstract:
A single vane (46, 48) shutter flag (38) is asynchronously controlled (82) so that a measuring system light source (22) is interrupted for a minimum necessary amount of time for standardization/calibration and normalization of InGaAs system detectors (68a - 68d). Source/detector hemispheres (50, 62) or serially connected randomly oriented fiber bundles (132) homogenize light passing to the detectors. Light source testing is performed by measuring spectral power distributions at a plurality of light source power levels and comparing the measurements to baseline characteristics established for the light source. Calibration sample life is extended indefinitely by controlling the shutter flag to block source light except for short calibration time periods during which standard light levels are provided.
Abstract:
An improved robot (202b)arrangement for performing predetermined tasks, such as paint finishing, features equipping a robot (202b)with a plurality of manipulatable arms (210and 212), with at least two of the arms performing like operations. Alternatively, a plurality of commonly controlled manipulator arms (210and 212)may be provided by clustering a plurality of conventional single arm robots on a common mounting stand.
