An object of the present invention is to provide a form-fill-seal machine and a form-fill-seal system, with which the thickness of bags can be adjusted easily within a short time. This form-fill-seal machine (1) is provided with seal jaws (54, 74), gas removal members (56, 76), an air cylinder (56b), and a control unit. The seal jaws (54, 74) transverse-seal a cylindrical film (Fc) in a widthwise direction and form a bag (B). The gas removal members (56, 76) come into contact against the bag (B) just prior to transverse sealing of an upper edge part, discharging a gas upward from the bag (B). The air cylinder (56b) moves the gas removal members (56, 76), switching the position of the gas removal members (56, 76) between at least a first position and a second position with respect to the seal jaws (54, 74). The control unit, in a time slot just prior to the start of a transverse sealing action performed by the seal jaws (54, 74), changes the timing of switching between the first position and the second position, and adjusts the amount of gas discharged from the bag (B).

An object of the present invention is to provide a form-fill-seal machine that can efficiently seal a packaging material. The form-fill-seal machine is provided with: a conveyance unit for downwardly conveying the packaging material; a transverse sealing unit; and a control unit. The transverse sealing unit has first members (11a, 11b) to sandwich the packaging material and sealing the packaging material in a transverse direction, and second members (55, 75) for squeezing the packaging material while sandwiching the packaging material with a prescribed gap left therebetween. The control unit performs first to third control steps. In the first control step, the control unit causes the packaging material to be squeezed by the second members (55, 75) by causing the transverse sealing unit located at a reference position to descend faster than the packaging material being conveyed downward. In the second control step, the control unit causes the transverse sealing unit to ascend while the packaging material is being sealed by the first members (11a, 11b). In the third control step, the control unit causes the transverse sealing unit to move such that the first members (11a, 11b) are separated from the packaging material, and then returns the transverse sealing unit to the reference position.

An object of the present invention is to provide a technology capable of reducing the power consumption of a packaging machine without declining the availability factor of the whole of the system in a packaging system. In order to achieve the object, the packaging system includes a processing device performing a predetermined process on supplied processing objects and discharging them, and a packaging machine packaging the processing objects discharged from the processing device. The packaging machine includes a control unit centralized controlling the operation of the whole of the packaging machine. The control unit operates the packaging machine in the power-saving mode when the insufficient supply of the processing objects has occurred in the processing device, or when the insufficient supply of the processing objects is likely to occur in the processing device.
