Abstract:
Water-based coatings having writable-erasable surfaces are provided. The coatings have many desirable attributes. For example, the coatings cure under ambient conditions, have low or no VOC emissions during and upon curing, and have reduced tendency to form ghost images, even after prolonged normal use.
Abstract:
An article comprises a substrate, a first functional polymeric phase change material, and a plurality of containment structures that contain the first functional polymeric phase change material. The article may further comprise a second phase change material chemically bound to at least one of the plurality of containment structures or the substrate. In certain embodiments, the article further comprises a second phase change material and a binder that contains at least one of the first polymeric phase change material and the second phase change material. The containment structure may be a microcapsule or a particulate confinement material.
Abstract:
An article having reversible thermal regulation properties comprises a substrate and a functional polymeric phase change material having a heat carrying capacity. The article is further characterized by a chemical function having moisture adsorbing properties that increase the heat carrying capacity.

Abstract:
A novel photoreactive polymer is disclosed comprising a dendritic polymer core with at least one initiating functional group and at least one co-initiating functional group. The photoreactive polymers are useful in radiation curable compositions are varnishes, lacquers, printing inks and radiation curable ink-jet inks. The dendritic polymeric core is preferably a hyperbranched polymer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to hydrophobic and scratch-resistant paints, particularly for coating metal surfaces, comprising: A) organic binders having free -OH groups, B) network formers, which during the curing process of the liquid coatings form an inorganic silicate network made of mixtures of (B1) partially hydrolyzed and partially polycondensated organosilazane mixtures, and (B2) partially hydrolyzed and partially polycondensated organosilane mixtures, C) polysiloxanes having free -OH groups, aqueous solvent, and additives.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for enameling substrates with a coloring and/or effect-giving base enamel and clear enamel coating. According to said method, a coloring and/or effect-giving base enamel layer from a base enamel coating compound is applied to a substrate and then given a clear lacquer coating using the wet-on-wet technique. The non-hardened clear enamel layer is exposed to high-energy radiation before being baked with the base enamel coating. The clear enamel coating compound used is one with a resin solid comprising 50 to 98 weight per cent of system A, which can be cured thermally by addition and/or condensation reactions and which is essentially free from radically polymerizable double bonds and essentially free from groups which also react with radically polymerizable double bonds of system B, and 2 to 50 weight per cent of system B, which can be cured by radical polymerization of olefinic double bonds during exposure to high-energy radiation. The weight per cent values total 100 weight per cent and the C=C equivalent weight of the total resin solid of A and B is between 300 and 1000.
Abstract:
Chromate-free treatments and compositions, for applying a conversion or passivation coating to zinc coated metal surfaces. The compositions comprise a polyamidoamine/epihalohydrin polymer or cationic polyamine/epihalohydrin polymer component, fluoacid, H3PO4, and a film forming polymer latex component. The requisite metal surfaces are contacted by the compositions and dried. Rinsing is optional.
