Abstract:
A novel tank cryogenic-compatible composite pressure vessel that beneficially utilizes Vapor Cooled Shielding (VCS) is introduced to minimize thermal gradients along support structures and reduces heat loads on cryogenic systems. In particular, the configurations and mechanisms to be utilized herein include: providing for a desired number of passageways and a given thickness of the VCS, reducing the thermal conductivity of the VCS material, and increasing the cooling capacitance of the hydrogen vapors.
Abstract:
In order to overcome the problems that earlier methods and apparatus have experienced, a method for fueling a vehicle is proposed, comprising the steps: a) feeding a liquid cryogen into a condensing unit (C), thereby condensing natural gas present in the condensing unit (C); b) recovering natural gas vapour from an onboard storage tank of said vehicle and feeding said natural gas vapour to the condensing unit (C); and c) feeding liquefied natural gas from a fueling system to said onboard storage tank. A corresponding apparatus for fueling a vehicle is also proposed.

Abstract:
Safe storage of volatile compounds or elements is provided by utilizing storage configurations that take advantage of the diffusibility and release characteristics of cell-based materials, such as foam materials. Such configurations may provide storage of hazardous, liquefied gases in closed-cell foam material. Release of gas/liquid from the foam is restricted by the need for the gas to diffuse through the closed cells. Because rapid release is prevented, storage safety is greatly improved.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pressure vessel for containing or transporting pressurized gas. More particularly it relates to such vessels for containing or transporting compressed natural gas. The present invention also relates to a method of storing or transporting gas onshore or offshore. Moreover, the present invention relates to a vehicle for transporting gas, in particular compressed natural gas.
