摘要:
An article of manufacture that contains a plurality of yarns woven into an interlocking 3-dimensional structure whether or not uniform and symmetrical such that said interlocking impedes the penetration of projectiles such as bullets, fragments, flechettes and the like. The articles of the present invention are useful for providing a high degree of ballistic resistance and are therefore useful in armor applications.

An improved process for weaving an elastic stretch fabric and the product thereof are provided. The fabric is woven with weft and/or warp yarns that include combination yarns which comprise a partially oriented synthetic crystalline polymer yarn combined with an elastomeric core. The fabric is then stretched, heat set and finished under particular conditions to provide the resultant fabric with an elastic stretch of 18 to 45 % and dimensions about equal to the as-woven dimensions.

Disclosed herein is a melt-stable poly(arylene thioether-ketone) prepreg, which comprises in integral combination (A) 20-90 wt.% of a fibrous reinforcing material which comprises long fibers and/or at least one shaped long fiber body, said fibers and/or body being formed of inorganic fibers and/or organic fibers; and (B) 10-80 wt.% of a a thermoplastic matrix material composed principally of a melt-stable poly(arylene thioether-ketone) having predominant recurring units of the formula and having a melting point, Tm of 310-380°C, a residual melt crystallization enthalpy, ΔHmc (420°C/10 min) of at least 10 J/g, a melt crystallization temperature, Tmc (420°C/10 min) of at least 210°C and a reduced viscosity of 0.2-2 dℓ/g. A melt-stable molded or formed product can also be obtained by shaping the above prepreg or an arrangement or laminate of prepregs of the same type as the above prepreg at 140-450°C under stresses.

Bi-directional and multi-axial fabrics, fabric composites, ballistically resistant assemblies thereof, and the methods by which they are made. The fabrics are comprised of sets of strong, substantially parallel, unidirectional yarns lying in parallel planes, one above the other, with the direction of the yarns in a given plane rotated at an angle to the direction of the yarns in adjacent planes; and one or more sets of yarns having lower strength and higher elongation interleaved with the strong yarns. The fabrics of the invention provide superior ballistic effectiveness compared to ordinary woven and knitted fabrics but retain the ease of manufacture on conventional looms and knitting machines.

A lining cloth which is a woven fabric composed of the warp made of a polyester long fiber or a cellulose long fiber, and the weft made of a twisted yarn of a polyester long fiber, a raw yarn of a polyester long fiber or a cellulose long fiber, characterized in that the lining cloth has an elongation in the transverse direction of a 5 to 12 %, a coefficient of dynamic friction of 0.20 to 0.45 and a crimp index value for the weft of a fabric determined by the following formula (1): crimping ratio of weft/density of wrap x (size of warp) of 0.003 to 0.013. The lining cloth of the present invention can be used for attaching a lining cloth having a reduced feeling of oppression during wearing and a suppressed slippage of yarn in a seam. Typical uses include the attachment of a lining cloth in manufacturing a skirt the stem of which does not readily ride up. The lining cloth can be manufactured by subjecting a grey fabric woven by utilizing the warp made of a polyester long fiber or a cellulose long fiber and the weft made of a polyester long fiber, prior to or after scouring, to a narrowing of 5 to 30 % relative to the width of the grey fabric, and then heat-treating the narrowed fabric at 160 DEG C to 210 DEG C.

The present invention is directed to a textile fabric (10). This fabric is particularly well suited for use as the outer shell fabric of spun yarns (12) and multi-filament yarns (14). The spun yarn (12) includes a first staple being a polymer selected from the group consisting of PBI or PBO or melamine formaldehyde, and a second staple being an aramid filament.
