摘要: The applicant has devised a turntable platter for record players, consisting of two layers of glass and plastic lying one on top of the other. More precisely the plastic layer can be of a thermoplastic and/or thermosetting material such as polycarbonate, polyacrylic, polystyrene or otherwise.
The glass guarantees flatness, rigidity and pleasant appearance of the platter, such features not always being obtainable from the already known metal platters, while the plastic, for its part, guarantees the light weight associated with such material.
The glass-plastic combination in the turntable platter represents considerable progress in the particular industrial field as it guarantees reaching several results, including, most especially, the absorption of spurious vibrations, and secondly, optimum sound reproduction quality.
More especially, the first of these advantages is such that it is no longer necessary to use mats hitherto added to the already well known turntable platters.
The two glass (5) and plastic (2) layers can be joined together by means of adhesive (3) or pushed together along the edges; they can also be of different sizes and shapes.
It is advisable that the turntable platter obtained from said layers be provided with an upper layer (6), preferably less than one micron thick, of conductive material, either dielectric or metallic, in order to allow earthing the platter.
The outer rim of the platter is transparent in order to permit immediate visibility of the indicator lamp used by the stroboscopic device, hence it is not necessary to use an intermediate light deviating prism.

摘要: A holder for holding a card-like electronic device such as a semiconductor storage medium or an expansion module so as to prevent dust, particles, and water droplets from adhering to it. Even a large number of card-like electronic devices can be held, stored, and organized readily and adequately. The holder comprises a holder body having a device loading cavity where at least a part of a card-like electronic device is plugged, and the holder body has a support portion in which a through hole for suspending the holder is formed. A projection engageable with a recess provided to the card-like electronic device so as to hold the card-like electronic device is formed in the device loading cavity. Since such a holder holds the card-like electronic device, the holder can prevent the card-like electronic device from being lost more reliably than when the card-like electronic device is not held in the holder and can prevent dust, particles, and water droplets from adhering to the card-like electronic device.

摘要: An air flow system in a sealed data recording disk file directs selected portions of the air flow from the periphery of the stack of rotating disks to specific heat generating components in the disk file. A converging duct (82) is attached to the disk file housing (12) and has its inlet (86) located in close proximity to the periphery of the rotating disks. The outlet (89) of the converging duct is located adjacent to the coil (56) of the voice coil motor (VCM) actuator and oriented such that the flow exiting the outlet is perpendicular to the linear path (58) of the VCM. The outlet of the duct has an area smaller than that of the inlet so that there is an increase in velocity of the exiting air, which increases the cooling rate of the VCM. The shield directs a second portion of the air flow from the periphery of the disks across the electronic read/ write modules (80) located on the arms (54) which support the read/ write heads (50).

摘要: Apparatus for cleaning a record disc comprises a plurality of cylindrical cleaning members (12) mounted side-by-side in a housing (10), each cleaning member having a convex surface portion which extends below the housing for contacting the surface of a record disc to be cleaned. An arm (20) and a collar (21) extend from one side of the housing for locating the housing for rotation about the centre of the disc, the cylindrical cleaning members extending across the surface of the disc transverse to the direction of rotation of the housing. Each cylinder is restrained against rotation by brushing contact with a disc but is capable of manual rotation to bring a different portion of its surface below the housing to provide a fresh cleaning surface. A knob is rotatably mounted at the top of the housing (10), and is constrained to rotate substantially in a single direction only thereby permitting only a single direction of rotation of the housing (10). At least one of the cleaning surfaces (12) is conductive and is electrically connected via a sliding contact to a conductive part of the knob.

摘要: A cleaning mechanism (11) for phonograph disc records (13) includes a plurality of probes (39) arranged in line abreast relative to the direction of record rotation, for engagement within the record groove to remove particulate matter entrained therein.
The probes are preferably wires having a tip part (41) inclined at about 90° to a mounting part (43) which is held in a carrier (31) over the record. The carrier has means for dry cleaning such as a pad (97) to pick up particles, or for wet cleaning including a liquid reservoir (99) and dispensing means (101, 119, 91), supported therefrom suitably from a pivoted arm (87). The carrier may be supported from a radially extending beam (19) or a pivoted arm (219) disposed in a leading attitude, in a manner permitting tracking by the probes of the record groove.
