A method and system for transferring assembly data between a computer aided design computer system and a manufacturing computer system are provided. The system includes (1) first networking circuitry in the computer aided design computer system, (2) second networking circuitry in the manufacturing computer system and (3) communication circuitry for transferring assembly data from the first networking circuitry to the second networking circuitry. An execution of an interface application residing in the computer aided design computer system causes the communication circuitry to perform the transfer of the assembly data.

Circuit (10) for generating an error voltage (26) which is proportional to the difference between a desired value of a physical parameter and the actual value of the physical parameter. The circuit (10) operates by alternately switching the current from a source (13) through a fixed resistor (11) and a variable resistor (12), the resistance value of which changes as a function of the physical parameter to be controlled. The current is switched between the two resistors so that the average voltage generated across the variable resistor would be equal to the average voltage generated across the fixed resistor if the physical parameter had the desired value. By determining the difference between the average voltage across the resistors, the error voltage (26) can be generated for controlling the physical parameter.

Thermostats disclosed herein are operable to control an HVAC system. In controlling the HVAC system, a need to determine an expected indoor temperature profile for a particular schedule of setpoint temperatures may arise. To make such a determination, a thermodynamic model of the structure is used. The thermodynamic model may be generated by fitting weighting factors of a set of basis functions to a variety of historical data including time information, temperature information, and HVAC actuation state information. The set of basis functions characterize an indoor temperature trajectory of the structure in response to a change in HVAC actuation state, and include an inertial carryover component that characterizes a carryover of a rate of indoor temperature change that was occurring immediately prior to the change in actuation state.

Power is gradually increased in successive steps after a selected number of uses in each step until full power is achieved. Also, a battery-energized driving signal for a vibrating device has a selected characteristic, such as duty cycle, which is set initially at less than an optimum value, when the battery which is contained within the driver assembly (22) is at full strengh. As the battery discharges, the selected characteristic is adjusted toward optimum so as to compensate for reduction in the battery voltage and ensure full power output.

The apparatus also includes a printer (12) responsive to signals from the controller (14) for quickly and accurately printing on the tape (1) splice information and data identifiying the marker for which the splice point indicating tape (1) was generated. The apparatus also includes a tape advance system (10) for advancing the tape (1) form a supply roll (16) to the printer (12) and then to a takeup roll (28).
