Abstract:
A catalyst composition comprising cobalt as an active catalytic element and a lesser amount of nickel as a promoter supported on a metal oxide support. The support may comprise alumina, silica, silica-alumina, zeolite, zirconia, magnesia or titania. The amount of nickel is preferably less than 50 wt%, relative to the amount of cobalt.

Abstract:
A porous carrier for steam-reforming catalysts is composed of a composite oxide containing at least aluminum and magnesium, and has a BET specific surface area of 10 to 300 m 2 /g, an average pore diameter of not more than 300 Å and a pore volume of not less than 0.1 cm3/g. The catalyst obtained by supporting an active metal thereon, can be suitably used as a catalyst for steam-reforming a hydrocarbon raw material having a total sulfur content of not more than 50 ppm. A carrier is thus provided which can be industrially mass-produced and can exhibit an excellent sulfur-poisoning resistance. Further, the catalyst using the porous carrier is very useful for producing a mixed gas of a C 1 component and hydrogen by subjecting a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon to a steam-reforming reaction.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a catalyst on an oxidic carrier, and to methods for the selective hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds in hydrocarbon flows containing the same, using said catalysts.
Abstract:
A catalyst comprising an effective amount of iridium and at least one second metal selected for the Lanthanide Series of the Periodic Table is useful for vapor phase carbonylation to produce carboxylic acids and esters from lower alkyl alcohols, ethers and ester-alcohol mixtures. The iridium and secondary metal are deposited on a support material, preferably carbon. In a preferred aspect of the invention, the catalyst is useful for vapor phase carbonylation to produce acetic acid, methyl acetate and mixtures thereof.
Abstract:
A promoted calcium-alumina supported reforming catalyst that is particularly useful for reforming reactions where low H2/CO ratio synthesis gas, such as less than 2.3 is generated directly is disclosed. The catalyst comprises from about 25 wt% to about 98 wt % alumina, from about 0.5 wt% to about 35 wt% calcium oxide, from about 0.01 wt% to about 35 wt% of a promoter, and from about 0.05 wt% to about 30 wt% of an active metal. The promoter is selected from the group consisting of titanium, zirconium, yttrium, niobium, elements of the lanthanum-series, such as, without limitation, lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, promethium, samarium, europium, gadolinium, ytterbium, and combinations thereof. The active metal is selected from the group consisting of nickel, cobalt, rhodium, ruthenium, palladium, platinum, iridium and combinations thereof as active metal, wherein the calcium oxide is combined with the alumina to form aluminum-rich calcium aluminates.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to enhancement of the cycle life of a zinc chromium based catalyst used in the synthesis of 2-methylpyrazine by increasing the reaction temperature step-wise, starting from a low temperature, while monitoring the levels of total conversion and selectivity towards pyrazine. The catalyst can be regenrated after each cycle of use without substantial loss of activity.
Abstract:
A synthesis of the micro-porous silica gel and its application to preparation of catalysts for C2 oxygenates synthesis from syngas is invented. The small particles of silica gel which are, produced by sol gel process are heated in a basic solution, followed by drying and/or calcinations, and thus form micro-porous silica as catalyst support. The basic solution can be one or a mixed solution of hydroxides, carbonates, bicarbonates, formates and acetates of alkali metal and ammonium. The obtained micro-porous silica can be impregnated with the solutions of rhodium salt and other transition element salts (as promoter precursors), followed by drying and/or calcinations, thus forming a micro-porous silica supported rhodiurn based catalyst. The rhodium salt can be RhCl3 or Rh(NO3)3. The promoter precursors can be water-dissolvable transition metal salts, rare earth metals salts, alkali metal salts and alkali earth metal salts. The obtained catalysts show high activity and selectivity in the synthesis of C2-oxygenates by the hydrogenation of CO under mild process conditions.
