Abstract: The invention relates to a soft polyurethane foam containing germinable and/or germinated plant seeds. The soft polyurethane foam can contain a woven reinforcing fabric made of fibers, such as plastic fibers or decomposable natural fibers. Furthermore, the soft polyurethane foam can contain a material having high water retention capacity, such as a polyacrylate-based superabsorber. The soft polyurethane foam can contain seeds of grasses, mosses, lichens, ferns, mushrooms, aquatic plants, flowering plants, and perennial wood-forming plants as plant seeds. The soft polyurethane foam is produced by mixing (a) polyisocyanates with (b) at least one high-molecular-weight compound having at least two reactive hydrogen atoms, (c) optionally low-molecular-weight chain extender agents and/or cross-linking agents, (d) catalysts, (e) blowing agents, (f) optionally other additives, and (g) plant seeds and allowing the mixture to react to form the soft polyurethane foam. In order to cover surfaces with greenery, the soft polyurethane foam is applied to the surface in the form of a plate or sheet or rigidly connected to the surface and watered. Thus façades, roof surfaces, bedrock, sound protection walls, and desert ground can be covered with greenery. A soft polyurethane foam containing germinable and/or germinated lawn seeds can be used as rolled turf.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing plastically deformable polyurethane polyamide rigid foams having a closed cell proportion of less than 70%, in which (a) organic polyisocyanate is mixed with (b) one or a plurality of polymer compounds having at least two hydrogen atoms that are reactive to isocyanates, (c) optionally chain-extending and/or crosslinking agents, (d) one or a plurality of carboxylic acids having a functionality of at least 2, (e) a catalyser containing one Lewis base component, and (f) optionally auxiliary agents and additives, so as to form a reaction mixture, which reaction mixture is allowed to fully react. The present invention further relates to a plastically deformable polyurethane-polyamide rigid foam that is obtained using such a method, and to the use of such a plastically deformable polyurethane-polyamide rigid foam for interior lining or engine compartment lining in motor vehicles.
