A method for setting up a VPN is described. The VPN is set up in a backbone network having a plurality of PE routers for controlling the transfer of IP traffic to and from CE routers in satellite networks. In a PE router, a VRF is configured for the VPN and populated with local routes for the VPN. A VLAN identifier is assigned for the VPN, and advertised to other PE routers in the backbone network. Alternatively, the VLAN identifier may be determined by a predetermined mapping algorithm so it will be unique to the VPN in all PE routers, in which case the advertisement to other PE routers may contain an implicit NULL label.

The terminal (12-1) thereby has layer 2 access into the remote network (60) through the first and second tunnels (25, 15) using the first, second and third connectivity service functions (30, 20, 10).

A key performance indicator is indicative of a supply of application data needed to maintain a satisfactory quality of experience for an application session associated with the flow. Further, scheduling decisions, to control scheduling of the plurality of flows, are made based on the cost measures and key performance indicators associated with the plurality of flows to optimize the quality of experience of the application sessions associated with the plurality of flows.

A method of providing for the transfer of an IP flow when a client is handed over from a first to a second radio layer node of a cellular communications network. The method comprises establishing said IP flow between a client and an application of a local service network within or connected to said first radio layer node, and sending said IP flow over a radio access bearer extending between the client and the first radio layer node, and maintaining within a mobility database a mapping between an identifier of the client, an IP address of said application, and an IP address of said local service network. The client identifier contained in said request is used at said first radio layer node or said other node to identify said mapping in the mobility database, and the application and local service network IP addresses are sent from said first radio layer node or said other node, to said second radio layer node. The application and local service network IP addresses are received at said second radio layer node, and the received local service network IP address are used at said second radio layer node to establish a tunnel between the second radio layer node and said local service network. A caching entity, called a reverse cache, intercepts (81) a point-to-point connection between a mobile network user plane gateway and a wireless user equipment running a peer-to-peer application. The reverse cache caches (82) content loaded to the peer-to-peer application and stores information indicative of the wireless user equipment to which the cached content is loaded. A request (83) on the point-to-point connection for delivery of a first content from the wireless user equipment is intercepted (84) by the reverse cache. If the requested first content is cached in the reverse cache along with information indicating that the requested first content has been loaded to the wireless user equipment, the reverse cache delivers(86) the requested first content, without involving the wireless user equipment.
