A process for cleaning at least a part of a ship's hull above the low load line which has become discoloured above the low load line; said method comprising applying to a discoloured ship's hull coated with a copper-containing anti-fouling coating composition, a cleaning solution comprising water and an organic carboxylic acid having a molecular weight of 400 g/mol or less and which comprises at least one hydrophilic group and at least one carboxylic acid group or comprises at least two carboxylic acid groups, so as to remove at least a part of said discolouration; wherein at least a part of the ship's hull above the low load line has been exposed to sea water for a period of no more than 60 days, e.g. during a sea trial period.

The silyl ester copolymers comprise repeating units of monomers A, B and optionally C. A is one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of triorganosilyl esters of polymerisable ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids. B is one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of lactone modified hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylates, and C is one or more monomers selected from the group consisting of polymerisable ethylenically unsaturated compounds.

The present invention relates to a coating composition comprising an organofunctional polysiloxane polymer as a binding resin, obtaining the polymeric structure as part of a curing mechanism or a combination thereof. The main advantage of the invention is that it enables the formation of a flexible inorganic polymeric structure that is more UV-light, heat and oxidation resistant than a coating comprising a large percentage of a carbon based organic polymer.
