This manual transmission includes an input shaft Ai, an output shaft Ao, and an MG shaft Am. This transmission includes a motor speed change mechanism M2 which establishes a power transmission system between the output shaft Ao and the MG shaft Am and can selectively set the "ratio of rotational speed of the MG shaft Am to that of the output shaft Ao" (motor speed reduction ratio) to one of two values (Hi or Lo). During a period during which a selection operation, which is an operation in the left-right direction of a vehicle) of a shift lever SL, is performed on a shift pattern, the motor speed change mechanism M2 changes the motor speed reduction ratio in a manner interlocked with the selection operation. As a result, "during the selection operation"; i.e., in a state in which a driver is unlikely to perceive an external shock, the driver receives a shock produced as a result of changing of the motor speed reduction ratio. Therefore, the driver becomes less likely to perceive the shock. Thus, it becomes possible to provide a manual transmission for an HV-MT vehicle which makes a driver less likely to perceive a shock produced as a result of changing of the motor speed reduction ratio.

The invention relates to an internal control device for a mechanical gearbox comprising first and second input clutches (40, 41) which, respectively, control the transmission from the engine torque towards first and second primary concentric shafts (20, 30) bearing: stationary pinions (21, 22, 23, 31, 32); two output shafts (50, 60) supporting idle pinions which are driven respectively by the first and second input shafts; and means (100, 101, 102 103) for jaw clutching said idle pinions, which are actuated by an assembly of shift forks (230, 240, 250, 260). The invention is characterised in that all of the gearbox ratios are selected and switched by a common selector (210) comprising a selector cylinder (211) and a switching carriage (220) which is concentric to the cylinder and which is disposed therein.
