The invention relates to a method for use in constructing a garment (25) including elastic, in a processing system, as one of a series of consecutive workpieces in a continuous web, the workpieces having front and back body portions separated by a crotch portion, the method including, with respect to respective workpieces, the steps of: (a) stretching an elastic; (b) incorporating the stretched elastic into the continuous web in stretched condition; and (c) subsequently relieving stretch in the elastic at the crotch portion of each respective workpiece in the web, while maintaining the stretch in the elastic at the front and back body portions of each respective workpiece, by applying ultrasonic energy to the outer surface of the workpiece at at least one selected locus at the crotch portion, sufficient to effect severing of the elastic without corresponding severing of the continuous web. A method of and apparatus for making a three-dimensional object (2) made of a plurality of performed sheets (3), one atop the other. The method includes coating one side of one sheet (3) with adhesive using applicator (20), coating the adhesive with a release agent using applicator (22), bonding the opposite side of twice coating sheet (3) to a sheet (3) thereunder using adhesive on the surface of sheet (3) thereunder, and cutting twice coated sheet (3) using cutter (30). These steps are repeated until the desired number of sheets (3) is provided in a stack. The release agent is coated only in those areas of sheets (3) which will not be part of object (2), and cutting of each sheet (3) is along a contour corresponding to the contour of the same respective layer in object (2). After the steps have stopped, portion of the stack where the release layer is present and which is not part of object (2) is removed from the stack to give object (2).

The stretchable bottom fabric (28) forms with the cover (22) an enclosure. The stretchable cushion filler (64) is adapted to be completely enclosed within the enclosure. The stretchable cushion filler (64) has a first cushion layer (32), and adhesive for securing during laminating the cover to the stretchable cushion filler (64), and the cushion filler (64) to the stretchable bottom fabric (28). The adhesive is a second adhesive web layer (30) positioned between the stretchable base layer (26) and the first cushion layer (32) to secure the cushion filler (64) to the cover (22) and a third adhesive web layer (34) positioned on the first cushion layer (32) to secure the bottom fabric (28) to the cushion filler (64). The components of the cushion strap assembly are laminated together completely by heat and adhesive.

A laminated sheet provided with an adhesive layer having exposed opposite side edge portions is overlaid on the tack sheet. The laminated sheet is punched to form a plurality of divisions, and the divisions are bonded to the tack sheet by the portions of the adhesive layer not corresponding to the releasing regions. A photosetting bonding agent (96) is applied to the lower surface of the second plastic film (94), and the portions (96a) corresponding to the sum of the unnecessary regions (U1, U2) of the first and second plastic films are cured with the other portion (96b) left uncured. The first and second plastic films are then bonded to each other by applying light to the uncured layer (96b) so as to cure the same. The second plastic film (94) is then cut into an effective region (V2) and unnecessary regions (U2). By repeating these steps, plastic films are laminated in order, to mold a three-dimensional object.
