There is provided a lighting apparatus comprising a lighting cup (10) and a waveguide (2) having an end at the lighting cup. The lighting cup (10) emits light into the end of the waveguide (2), and the waveguide has a reflector (4) aligned along a length of the waveguide for emitting the light from the waveguide. The lighting apparatus further comprises a light emitting diode, LED, package mounted inside the lighting cup, and the lighting cup is filled with a transparent encapsulant material (25) to exclude gases in the environment away from any conductors of the LED package that could cause sparking. Accordingly, the lighting apparatus is safe for use in hazardous environments where explosive gases may be present. A method of manufacturing the lighting apparatus is also provided.

A ceiling lamp includes a light body and a heat dissipation shroud. The light body includes a base platform to mount an illuminant thereat and two retention panels spacedly and upwardly extended from the base platform. The heat dissipation shroud has a plurality of heat dissipation holes and two elongated openings formed on the surrounding wall to guide the retention panels. The heat dissipation shroud further includes a fastener provided at a top edge of each of the elongated openings for detachably fastening with the base platform. When the ceiling lamp is installed into a ceiling, the heat dissipation shroud is covered by a thermal insulation layer above the ceiling, the heat dissipation shroud separates the light body from the thermal insulation layer for prevent heat being blocked by the thermal insulation layer, so as to prevent the overheat of the light body.
