    摘要: A power supply for a video display tube includes a deflection transformer with a primary winding powered with a scan voltage which has a first value when displaying signal according to a first video standard and a second voltage when displaying video according to a second standard. A secondary winding of the transformer produces filament voltage for the display tube. A variable coupler couples the filament voltage to the filament of the picture tube in an amount established by a control signal. A memory produces a first control signal in response to the first scan voltage and a second control signal in response to the second scan voltage. The first and second control signals are selected so that the voltage coupled from the transformer to the filament is the same at both scan voltages.

    摘要: A directly heated cathode assembly comprises a cathode button 100 having a concave surface, two electrodes 120, 170 positioned on said cathode button such that the application of a voltage between them causes current to flow through the body of the cathode button thereby causing heat to be produced within the body of the cathode button. The current flow is evenly distributed between the electrodes by an arrangement incorporated within the cathode button illustrated as a maze of insulating pieces 220. This maze causes the current to travel in a path substantially greater in length than the distance between the electrodes.

    摘要: A dish-shaped dispenser cathode (28) is mounted at one end of a cathode housing (10), with a heater wire coil (42) mounted behind the cathode (28). A warm-up power supply (70) electrically connected between the central region and the periphery of the cathode (28) causes heating current to flow through the cathode (28) during a short period of time at the start of cathode operation to provide rapid warm-up of the cathode (28). A sustaining power supply (76) electrically connected between the respective ends of the heater wire coil (42) causes sustaining current to flow through the heater wire coil (42) to provide sustaining heat to the cathode (28) by radiation from the heater coil (42) to maintain the cathode (28) at its desired operating temperature.
