In one embodiment the method for sensing movement of an optical scanner comprises the steps of providing an oscillating system comprising a flexible member, a magnet coupled to the flexible member, a coil disposed within a magnetically effective distance from the magnet, and sense circuitry coupled to the coil; generating a first electrical signal from the oscillations of the flexible member; amplifying the generated electrical signal; analyzing the first electrical signal to determine if the generated signal is indicative of movement of the optical scanner.

    摘要: An improved bar code symbol reading methodology, device, and system includes a bar code symbol reading engine (151’) that reads bar code symbols affixed to objects proximate thereto and produce symbol character data representative of such bar code symbols. A data transmission subsystem (523), operably coupled to the bar code reading engine, communicates such symbol character data to the communication interface of a host system over a communication link therebetween. The data transmission subsystem (523) implements a plurality of different communication interfaces (551A, 551B). During an interface configuration mode of operation, the data transmission subsystem (523) automatically cycles through at least one of the plurality of different communication interfaces whereby, for a given communication interface, the data transmission subsystem selectively activates the given communication interface - while disabling the other communication interfaces, and tests the communication link between the given communication interface and the host system to ascertain if the given communication interface corresponds to the communication interface of the host system.

    摘要: Run length encoded data derived from a raster scanner (30) at an arbitrary angle to the horizontal direction of a rectilinear symbol (25) such as a two-dimensional PDF code is examined to detect the skew angle between the horizontal direction (Xs) of the symbol (25) and horizontal direction (Xr1) of the raster (36). Using the detected skew angle, a computer (70) generates a set of virtual scan lines overlaid on the real scan lines. The computer (70) partitions the virtual scan lines and the real scan lines into associated real and virtual line segments having common intersection points. The locations of mark to space or space to mark transitions are mapped from the real line segments onto the virtual line segments. The system can handle run length encoded data with low computational overhead.
