In one embodiment the method for sensing movement of an optical scanner comprises the steps of providing an oscillating system comprising a flexible member, a magnet coupled to the flexible member, a coil disposed within a magnetically effective distance from the magnet, and sense circuitry coupled to the coil; generating a first electrical signal from the oscillations of the flexible member; amplifying the generated electrical signal; analyzing the first electrical signal to determine if the generated signal is indicative of movement of the optical scanner.

The present invention provides a method for forming an adhesion layer in contact with a first surface of a substrate and a surface of a layer having electrically conductive properties using electrophotographic imaging compound as a mask. The adhesion layer improves the lamination properties of the electrically conductive layer to the substrate. The improved lamination properties to facilitate and increase the reliability and quality of a resulting product having an electronic circuit formed in accordance with the present invention. The method disclosed herein is well suited for use with rigid polymeric substrates and flexible polymeric substrates.

The data transmission subsystem (523) implements a plurality of different communication interfaces (551A, 551B). Run length encoded data derived from a raster scanner (30) at an arbitrary angle to the horizontal direction of a rectilinear symbol (25) such as a two-dimensional PDF code is examined to detect the skew angle between the horizontal direction (Xs) of the symbol (25) and horizontal direction (Xr1) of the raster (36). Using the detected skew angle, a computer (70) generates a set of virtual scan lines overlaid on the real scan lines. The computer (70) partitions the virtual scan lines and the real scan lines into associated real and virtual line segments having common intersection points. The locations of mark to space or space to mark transitions are mapped from the real line segments onto the virtual line segments. The system can handle run length encoded data with low computational overhead.
