The over-running clutch pulley (10) of a preferred embodiment of the invention includes a sheave member (20), a hub member (22) located substantially concentrically within the sheave member, and a clutch member (24), which cooperate to rotationally engage an input device (12) and an output device (14). The sheave member preferably includes a sheave input section (26) adapted to engage the input device, and a sheave clutch section (28) defining a sheave clutch surface (30). Similarly, the hub member preferably includes a hub output section (32) adapted to engage the output device, and a hub clutch section (34) defining a hub clutch surface (36). In the preferred embodiment, either the sheave clutch surface, the hub clutch surface, or both, have a surface microhardness greater than the hub output section.

A silicon elastomer compatible constant velocity joint grease comprises a urea grease composed of a lubricating oil and a urea thickener and an effective amount of a friction reducing additive package comprising vermiculite, molybdenum oxysulfide dithiocarbamate, polyphenylene sulfide and potassium triborate. The additive package solids have particle sizes below about 40 microns.

A urea-urethane grease composition contains, as essential ingredients, a thickener and a lubricant base oil. The thickener contains a urea-urethane mixture having a composition including 20 to 99, mol.% of a diurea comoound reoresented bv the aeneral formula (I) of 4 to 30 mol.% of a urea-urethane compound represented by the general formula and 1 to 50 mol.% of a diurethane compound represented by the general formula wherein R 1 represents a difunctional aromatic hydrocarbon residue having 6 to 15 carbon atoms, R 2 a cyclohexyl group or a group derived from cyclohexyl and having 7 to 12 carbon atoms and R 3 an alkyl group or an alkenyl group having 8 to 20 carbon atoms. The ratio of the numbers of amino groups R 2 -NH-to those of alkoxy groups R 3 -O-in the mixture being 95 / 5 to 40/60. The thickener is contained in an amount of 2 to 25 wt.% based on the total weight of the grease composition.

Triurea grease compositions having excellent oil separation, shear. stability, oxidation stability and structural stability at a high temperature, which contain a triurea compound wherein R, is a monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 12-24 carbon atoms, R 2 is a divalent triazine derivative radical, R 3 is a divalent aromatic hydrocarbon radical having 6-15 carbon atoms or the derivative radical thereof, and R 4 is at least one of monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals having 2-24 carbon atoms, derivative radicals thereof, monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon radicals having 6-10 carbon atoms and derivative radicals thereof, as a thickening agent in a usual lubricating base oil.

Provided is a grease composition containing a base oil (A), a urea-based thickener (B), and melamine cyanurate (C), wherein particles containing the urea-based thickener (B) in the grease composition satisfy the following requirement (I), and the grease composition has excellent wear resistance. Requirement (I): The particles have an area-based arithmetic average particle diameter of 2.0 µm or less, as measured by a laser diffraction/scattering method. It is preferred that the particles containing the urea-based thickener (B) in the grease composition further satisfy the following requirement (II). Requirement (II): The particles have a specific surface area of 0.5 × 10 5 cm 2 /cm 3 or more, as measured by a laser diffraction/scattering method.

The present invention relates to provision of an extreme pressure agent-containing grease composition using, as a thickener, a urea-based thickener, the grease composition being excellent in both torque transmitting efficiency and leakage prevention performance and also excellent in wear resistance and load resistance. The grease composition contains a base oil (A), a urea-based thickener (B), and an extreme pressure agent (C), wherein particles containing the urea-based thickener (B) in the grease composition satisfies the following requirement (I): Requirement (I): an arithmetic average particle diameter of the particles on an area basis as measured by the laser diffraction/scattering method is 2.0 pm or less, and
the extreme pressure agent (C) is at least one selected from an organic metal-based extreme pressure agent, a sulfur-based extreme pressure agent, a phosphorus-based extreme pressure agent, and a sulfur-phosphorus-based extreme pressure agent.
