A method for the treatment of wool garments with ozone gas to control and inhibit their felting and shrinkage during their subsequent industrial finishing process and/or domestic washing care, is described. The method comprises wetting the garments, and treating the garments inside the interior of a rotative tumbler for a time period of between 15 and 60 minutes at ambient temperature with ozone gas, said ozone gas being at a concentration in air of between 20 g ozone/Nm 3 and 150 g ozone/Nm 3 , wherein the rotative tumbler which contains the garments is rotated at a speed of between 10 rounds/min and 25 rounds/min. The method is improved by adding treating the garments with enzymes.

Fibers for fiber-reinforced resin of the present invention are fibers for fiber-reinforced resin to which a sizing agent is adhered. The fibers are at least one selected from carbon fibers and glass fibers, and an ester bond (-COO-) generated by denaturation of the sizing agent is present on surfaces of the fibers. A method for producing the same according to the present invention includes: subjecting fibers to which a sizing agent is adhered to at least one treatment selected from the group consisting of ozone oxidation, ultraviolet irradiation at a wavelength of 400 nm or less, and a plasma treatment. The fibers are at least one selected from carbon fibers and glass fibers. Thus, it is possible to provide carbon fibers having enhanced wettability to a matrix resin and thereby allowing the matrix resin to be impregnated between the fibers easily.

The present invention describes a method to provide color to several materials/substrates, using compounds naturally present on nature - natural colorants, which implies contacting the material with a mixture of vegetable extracts and enzymes with oxidase, oxidoreductase or peroxidase activity in the extracts and also preferentially the pre-treatment of the material by plasma and/or ozone. The materials/substrates can be fabrics, fibers, yarns, films or structures of natural or synthetic origin, such as, but not limited to: fur, skin, leather, hair, silk, wool, angora, cashmere, cotton, linen, jute, hemp, sisal, cork, lyocell, polyamide, polyester, acetate or viscose and its mixtures. Therefore the present invention is useful for coloring natural and synthetic materials with natural colorants, presenting a color with a high fastness. The materials prepared under the present invention can be used to produce several articles, such as clothing, home textiles, shoes, upholstery and several coatings, among others.

A method of producing a piping component seal member 22 having excellent chlorine resistance includes a first step and a second step. The first step includes oxidizing first carbon nanofibers produced by a vapor growth method to obtain surface-oxidized second carbon nanofibers. The second step includes mixing carbon black having an average particle diameter of 50 nm to 10 micrometers and the second carbon nanofibers into an ethylene-propylene rubber, and dispersing the carbon black and the second carbon nanofibers in the ethylene-propylene rubber by applying a shear force.
