A system for spectroscopic imaging of bodily tissue in which a scintillation screen (20) and a charged coupled device (24) (CCD) are used to accurately image selected tissue. An x-ray source (12) generates X-rays which pass through a region of a subject's body, forming an X-ray image which reaches the scintillation screen (20). The scintillation screen (20) reradiates a spatial intensity pattern corresponding to the image, the pattern being detected by a CCD sensor (24). The image is digitized by the sensor (24) and processed by a controller (30) before being stored as an electronic image. Each image is directed onto an associated respective CCD or amorphous silicon detector to generate individual electronic representations of the separate images.

An X-ray apparatus in accordance with the invention is provided with a filter (12) for limiting the dynamic range of an X-ray image formed on an X-ray detector (4) by exposure of an object (3), for example a patient to be examined, to X-rays (2). The filter (12) comprises filter elements (13) which comprise one or more capillary tubes (13), one end of which communicates with a reservoir with an X-ray absorbing liquid. The adhesion of the X-ray absorbing liquid to the inner side of the capillary tubes can be adjusted by means of an electric voltage applied to an electrically conductive layer provided on the inner side of the capillary tubes (13). The degree of filling of the capillary tubes (13) with the X-ray absorbing liquid is adjusted by way of the electric voltage value. The X-ray absorption profile is adjusted within a very short period of time, for example within one second, by adjustment of the electric voltages applied to the capillary tubes (13).

Dabei wird von einem Röntgensystem mit einem Röntgenquanten emittierenden Röntgenstrahler (1) und einer wenigstens ein Meßsignal liefernden Detektoranordnung (9) zur Erfassung der mit einem Objekt (7) in einem Untersuchungsbereich in Wechselwirkung getretenen Röntgenquanten ausgegangen. Das Verfahren erfaßt folgende Verfahrensschritte: a) Es wird eine Messung durch geführt, bei der sich im Strahlengang zwischen dem Röntgenstrahler (1) und dem Untersuchungsbereich ein Filter (5) befindet. b) Es wird eine Messung durchgeführt, bei der sich im Strahlengang zwischen dem Untersuchungsbereich und der Detektoranordnung (9) ein Filter (6) befindet, das aus dem gleichen Material besteht wie das bei der anderen Messung benutzte Filter (5). c) Die bei den beiden Messungen erhaltenen Meßsignale werden subtraktiv miteinader kombiniert.

La présente invention se rapporte à la conception et à la fabrication de dispositifs de focalisation de rayons X à large bande servant à la production lithographique de structures aux dimensions du sous-micron, par exemple du type utilisé dans des circuits intégrés électroniques. Les conceptions décrites ici exploitent la capacité de diffraction des rayons X par des obstacles et des ouvertures (Figure 1), en particulier en régime de Fresnel ou de champ proche. Les dispositifs décrits concentrent au moins deux fois l'intensité de rayons X incidents blancs, dont la largeur de bande peut dépasser une octave (Figure 6). Leur fabrication ne nécessite le recours à aucun procédé qui ne soit pas déjà largement utilisé.

The filter arrangement for an X-ray apparatus contains an X-ray source (2) for emitting a diverging beam (4) of X-rays and a filter plate (14) positioned in the beam of X-rays. The beam is symmetrical with respect to a center beam axis (8). The filter plate which serves for attenuation of the X-rays before they impinge on a target (16) is mounted on a pivoting axis (17). The pivoting axis is preferably arranged remote from and transverse to the center beam axis. By pivoting the filter plate (14) about the pivoting axis (17) into a selected position, a selected radiation profile can be obtained on the target (16). The rotatable filter plate (14) can thus replace a plurality of wedge filters.
