Disclosed are a method of producing a graft copolymer, comprising polymerizing a vinyl monomer (B) containing a polyfunctional vinyl monomer (b1) in the presence of a polyorganosiloxane rubber (A) comprising more than 20% by mass of a toluene-insoluble matter, wherein a mass percentage of the polyfunctional vinyl monomer (b1) is 11 to 19% by mass based on 100% by mass of a total amount of the polyorganosiloxane rubber (A) and the vinyl monomer (B); a graft copolymer obtained by the method; a resin composition being prepared by blending the graft copolymer with a resin and having high impact resistance and heat resistance and sufficient flame retardancy; and a molded article obtained by molding the resin composition.

The object of the present invention is to provide a silicone-based copolymer which has excellent long-term antifouling property even in a dry-wet alternate portion of a ship and the like or a portion thereof near the surface of water, is excellent also inmechanical strength and recoatability and exhibits high antifouling performance even if an antifouling agent is not added, and an antifouling coating composition containing the copolymer. Disclosed are a novel graft copolymer and a resin composition having an excellent balance between flame resistance and impact resistance. Specifically disclosed is a polyorganosiloxane graft copolymer containing a polyorganosiloxane component (A), a polymer component (C) having at least a unit derived from a nitrogen atom-containing polyfunctional monomer (B) having two or more radically polymerizable groups in a molecule, and another polymer component (E) which is derived from an ethylenically unsaturated monomer (D) and has a glass transition temperature of not less than 40˚C. Also specifically disclosed is a resin composition containing such a graft copolymer.
