A system (10) for generating microwave energy includes a microwave generator (100) that generates first and second microwave signals, a transmission line (120) and a dual antenna microwave device (110). The transmission line transmits the first and second microwave signals to the microwave device. The microwave device includes a first antenna (116a) proximal a second antenna (116b) and a dual-sided choke (128) positioned therebetween. The first antenna receives the first microwave signal from the transmission line between a first conductor and a second conductor and the second antenna receives the second microwave signal between the second conductor and a third conductor. The dual-sided choke includes a first and a second antenna choke circuit. The first antenna choke circuit limits the propagation of electromagnetic fields generated by the first antenna toward the second antenna and the second antenna choke circuit limits the propagation of electromagnetic fields generated by the second antenna toward the first antenna.

This invention provides devices and methods for remodeling the female genital tissue, the device comprising a treatment tip, wherein the distal end of the treatment tip is conical, spherical, hemispherical, oval or circular in shape. The device further comprises one or more energy delivery elements for simultaneous cooling of the vaginal epithelium and transmission of energy for heating the tissues underneath the epithelium. In one embodiment, said device may further comprise one or more of the following: one or more temperature sensors for measuring the temperature at or below the epithelium; one or more directional sensors mounted on the hand piece or treatment tip; and one or more depth markers to show the depth of penetration of the treatment tip into the vagina. In another embodiment, this invention provides a device having a finger holder with electrodes for remodeling the female genital tissue.

A microwave ablation system includes an antenna assembly configured to deliver microwave energy from a power source to tissue. One or more electrodes are disposed on the antenna assembly and are configured to be positioned relative to tissue upon insertion of the antenna assembly into tissue. The one or more electrodes are configured to generate a feedback signal in response to an electrical signal supplied thereto from the power source. The feedback signal corresponds to the proximity of tissue relative to the at least one electrode and is configured to be compared to a predetermined parameter to determine a depth of the insertion of the antenna assembly into tissue. The power source is configured to control the delivery of microwave energy to the antenna assembly based on the comparison.
