摘要: The invention relates to a heating element for heating flowing gases. The heating element comprises a first flat component which is electrically conductive and which can be heated by conducting an electric current through the same. The inventive heating element also comprises a second flat component which is electrically non-conductive, whereby the components are arranged such that a series of layers is provided, and the components form flow paths for the gas to be heated. In addition, at least several layers of the series of layers of the first flat component are insulated from one another by the second flat component. A waste gas system comprises at least one heating element which is arranged upstream, in a direction of flow, from at least one filter. According to the inventive method for heating flowing gases, at least one heating element is operated in a temporally selective manner.

摘要: According to the method of the present invention, NO (nitrogen monoxide) in the exhaust gas of a diesel engine is first oxidized to NO2 (nitrogen dioxide) by an oxidizing catalyst (5). Further, carbon particles in the exhaust gas are trapped by a DPF (7) (diesel particulate filter). The exhaust gas containing NO2 formed by oxidation of nitrogen monoxide is, then, fed to the DPF (7), and NO2 in the exhaust gas reacts with the carbon particles trapped in the DPF (7). When the NO2 reacts with carbon particles, carbon particles are oxidized (burned) by NO2 and removed from DPF (7), and, at the same time, NO2 is reduced to NO by the carbon particles. The exhaust gas containing NO formed by the reaction between the carbon particles and NO2 is fed to an NOX absorbent (9). In the NOX absorbent (9), NO is absorbed by the NOX absorbent (9) and, thereby, removed from the exhaust gas. Therefore, according this method, the carbon particles collected by the DPF (7) can be easily burned by NO2, thereby being removed from the DPF (7) without increasing the amount of NO released to the atmosphere.

摘要: A diesel particulate filter apparatus comprises filter structures bent in a wavy profile, formed in a tubular form, and comprising ceramic fiber laminate materials(41) formed by randomly laminating a ceramic fiber and wire nets(42) laminated on the ceramic fiber laminate materials(41). First rigid members(43) and second rigid members(44) are fitted in and on both end portions of the filter structures(40). Tubular clamping members(45) for clamping the filter structures(40) in the thickness-wise direction thereof are provided on the outer sides of the second rigid members(44). Woven fabrics may be interposed between non-woven fabrics(64) of the ceramic fiber and the wire nets(62) constituting the filter structures(55). Filter members(1, 2) comprise ceramic fiber laminate materials (12) formed by laminating a ceramic fiber(11), and glass layers(13) covering the outer peripheral surfaces of the ceramic fiber laminate materials(12) and having a low Young's modulus and a coefficient of linear thermal expansion substantially the same as that of the ceramic fiber (11), whereby breakage of the fiber laminate materials can be prevented while enabling forming thereof.
