摘要:
According to an embodiment, a hearing aid adapted to indicate a pathological condition of a user of the hearing aid when the hearing aid is in use is disclosed. The hearing aid includes an input transducer, a processing unit, an output transducer and a feedback measurement unit. The input transducer is adapted to transform an input sound signal into an electrical input signal. The processing unit adapted to generate an electrical output signal by processing the electrical input signal. The output transducer is adapted to transform the processed electrical output signal to an acoustic output signal and to direct the acoustic output signal towards a tympanic membrane of the user. The feedback measurement unit is adapted to measure an acoustic feedback produced by the tympanic membrane in response to the acoustic output signal. During a time duration, a feedback path logger is adapted to continuously track the measured acoustic feedback and a feedback path modeller is adapted to generate a base pattern across a plurality of frequencies of the tracked acoustic feedback. During a subsequent time duration, the feedback path logger is adapted to continuously track the measured acoustic feedback and the feedback path modeller is adapted to generate a measured pattern across the plurality of frequencies of the tracked acoustic feedback. The hearing aid further includes a comparator and a state classifier. The comparator is adapted to determine a variation between the measured pattern and the base pattern and the state classifier adapted to identify at least one pathological condition corresponding to the determined variation.

It comprises new systematic procedures for filtering synchronization data (raw data: tap times and sound/musical beat reference times) in order to obtain accurate and reliable measures of synchronization accuracy and variability (or consistency). The procedures detailed are used to provide reliable synchronization data that can be used to compute measures of synchronization accuracy and variability based on linear statistics or circular statistics. These procedures are particularly appropriate for analyzing synchronization performance in individuals with rhythmic disorders.

An exemplary system 1) presents, during a first time period, a tone in isolation to a patient by way of a receiver in communication with an ear of the patient, the tone having a predetermined frequency included in a frequency band, 2) presents, during a second time period, the tone together with a masking signal to the patient by way of the receiver, 3) uses an electrode located within an intracochlear region of the patient that is associated with the frequency band to record, during the first time period, a first evoked response that occurs in response to the presentation of the tone, and record, during the second time period, a second evoked response that occurs in response to the presentation of the tone together with the masking signal, and 4) determines, based on the first and second evoked responses, whether the intracochlear region is dead.

Disclosed is a hearing diagnosis and treatment device, comprising at least an all-digital audio and tone signal synthesis generator for generating various audio and tone signals meeting hearing diagnosis and treatment conditions, a digital information management and transmission module connected with the all-digital audio and tone signal synthesis generator, and a tinnitus diagnosis and treatment unit and a hearing-aid diagnosis and treatment unit which are connected with the all-digital audio and tone signal synthesis generator. On the basis of the above, the hearing diagnosis and treatment device of the present invention integrates the tinnitus diagnosis and treatment unit and the hearing-aid diagnosis and treatment unit which share the same all-digital audio and tone signal synthesis generator, so the device is simplified, saves cost, is conveniently operable and portable and widely applicable, and provides patients with hearing problems with individual and specific diagnosis and treatment.

Examples of systems and methods for profiling the hearing ability of a consumer are disclosed. One example includes a personal computer and a handheld device configured to produce calibrated acoustic output at suprathreshold levels above 20 db HL, and at step levels of 10-20 decibels, and presented test frequency bands across an audiometric frequency range from 400 to 8000Hz. The consumer's minimal audibility levels are registered, and a hearing profile score is presented to indicate hearing ability and hearing aid candidacy. In some embodiments, band-limited natural sounds are presented. Systems and methods disclosed herein, with considerations for noise present in the consumer's environment, allow for rapid calibrated hearing profiling, using a standard personal computer and minimal hardware, thus particularly suited for self-testing outside clinical environments such as at home or the office.

An embodiment of the invention provides a method of diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea, the method comprising: acquiring a sleep sound signal comprising sounds made by a person during sleep; detecting a plurality of snore sounds in the sleep sound signal; determining a set of mel-frequency cepstral coefficients for each of the snore sounds; determining a characterizing feature for the sleep sound signal responsive to a sum of the variances of the cepstral coefficients; and using the characterizing feature to diagnose obstructive sleep apnea in the person.
