    摘要: A vapour valve (30) is useful for example in a vapour recovery nozzle of the type used in dispensing fuel to motor vehicles in which vapour from the vehicle fuel tank is returned to the fuel reservoir, the valve closing the vapour passage to the fuel reservoir when fuel is not being dispensed.
    The valve (30) comprises a body having a vapour passage and a liquid passage, the passages having first and second chambers (42, 47) separated by a thin wall. A poppet (51) is positioned in the first chamber (42), is movable between a closed position (shown in Fig. 2) in which flow of vapour is blocked and an open posi­tion, and has a permanent magnet (55) which is adja­cent the thin wall. A closure (56) is positioned in the second chamber (47), is moved from a resting closed position (shown in Fig. 2) restricting flow of liquid to an open position in response to flow of liquid, and has a permanent magnet (58) adjacent the thin wall. The magnets (55, 58) are arranged so that, when the closure (56) is in or moves to its closed position, the magnetic forces therebetween will cause the poppet (51) to remain in or move to its closed position.

    摘要: A check valve for controlling the flow of fluid through a passageway comprises an elastomeric valve element (21) that permits flow of fluid through the passageway in a downstream direction while preventing the flow of fluid in the upstream direction. The valve element (21) comprises a base portion (22) secured to the walls of the passageway and provided with an opening (27) through which fluid can flow. Flow of fluid is controlled by vanes (26) projecting downstream from the base portion (22), each vane (26) being flexibly connected to the base portion (22) and being movable about its line of connection between an open position in which ready flow of fluid in a forward direction is permitted, and a closed position in which the vanes (26) make sealing engagement with each other preventing upstream flow of fluid. The vanes are shaped to resist external pressures and a separate rigid supporting member (24) is provided comprising a base portion (23) secured, with the base portion (22) of the valve element (21), to the walls of the passageway. The rigid member includes a sleeve (39) which supports the vanes adjacent their zones of pivotal connection to the base portion (22) against external fluid pressure.

The means (40) may comprise a clip which has two elongate members which are engageable between flat surface portions (23) on the outer surface of the lag screw and flat surface portions (34) on the inner surface of the barrel member (31) of the compression plate (30) to prevent relative axial rotation between the compression plate (30) and lag screw (20). In use the clip (40) is mounted on the wrench assembly (50, 70, 80) before the lag screw (20) is engaged in the bone and can then be introduced into the barrel member (31) at the option of the surgeon.

    摘要: A grating fastening device comprises a base member (22) on which is mounted a saddle clamp (24) and a swivel clamp (26). The swivel clamp is rotatably mounted on the base member and is spring biased perpendicular to the base member for ease of installation. The fastener is easily installed by rotating the swivel clamp parallel to the base member against the spring bias, inserting the assembly between two adjacent bearing bars, and allowing the swivel clamp to spring to its engaged position automatically engaging the bottoms of two adjacent bearing bars. The saddle clamp engages the tops of the same two bearing bars engaged by the swivel clamp, and is arranged centrally of the base member, the swivel clamp being arranged at one end and the other end (64) of the base member being adapted to engage an under surface of a grating support (16), so that the forces on the base member are balanced.

    摘要: A connector for connecting the abutted end portions of two pipes (4,5) comprises a ring (1) having a pair of radially inwardly extending surfaces (2,3) directed towards each other and each for engagement with a radially outwardly extending surface (8,9) on a respective pipe end, the surfaces (8,9) on the pipe ends being directed away from the respective pipe ends. The connector includes operating means (12) for causing radial expansion of the ring to disengage the ring from one of the pipes (5), the ring remaining engaged with the other pipe (4). To this end the corresponding surfaces (2,8) on the ring and the pipe (4) have a greater radial extent than the surfaces (3,9) so that these surfaces remain engaged for all conditions of use of the connector. The connector is particularly suited for connecting the pipe sections of a pipe string for use in the drilling and/or completion of offshore oil or gas wells.
