Provided are a method for monitoring a molten state of a glass batch charged into a melting bath 2 of a glass melting furnace, and a method and a control device for controlling an amount of a glass batch to be charged into the melting bath 2 using such a method. Regions 21L, 21R to be measured are set in regions corresponding to particular partial regions on an image obtained by capturing an image of a liquid surface of the melting bath 2 to be monitored using a camera 6. The occupying ratio of an area occupied by image portions representing unmolten glass batches 70 in each of the regions 21L, 21R to be measured is measured, and a distribution state of the unmolten glass batches 70 in the partial region is recognized from the measured value of the occupying ratios so as to determine whether the quality of the molten state of the glass batch is favorable or not. When it is determined that the quality of the molten state of the glass batch is not favorable, the amounts of the glass batch to be charged into the melting bath 2 by batch chargers 4L, 4R are controlled so that appropriate distribution states can be obtained.

The image processing device includes: a search means for searching an image portion including all characters from the acquired image; a character recognition means for recognizing a character to be recognized by collating the image of a character to be recognized included in the image portion searched by the search means with the model images of a plurality of types of characters; and an output means for outputting a recognition result recognized by the character recognition means for each cylindrical container.

Provided is a preform, a synthetic resin container with a hanging attachment, and a method for molding a container with a hanging attachment in which it is difficult to produce molding defects and there are a few restrictions on a shape of a preform main body. A preform 20 includes a bottomed-cylindrical preform main body 21 which becomes a container main body 2 and a hanging attachment 4 which is integrally formed with this preform main body 21. An infusion bottle 1 is obtained by blow-molding the preform main body 21. The hanging attachment 4 has a joining part 17 which joins a hanging attachment main body 16 to the preform main body 21. By narrowly forming the width of this joining part 17, an impact on stretching of the preform main body 21 is reduced at the time of the blow molding.

The invention provides, in a glass article molding method using a feeder mechanism for cutting a columnar body of extruded molten glass to let a glass gob fall under self weight from an orifice, wherein after the fallen glass gob has been moved to a predetermined position, predetermined glass produce is formed from the glass gob, a quality control method and a quality control device for glass gobs. The glass gob formed by the feeder mechanism is observed during falling by a plurality of spaced optical observing means to produce three-dimensional coordinate data on the entire surface of the glass gob. On the basis of the three-dimensional coordinate data, measurement data concerning at least one of such factors as the volume, weight, surface shape, length, thickness, falling direction attitude, and cut shape of the glass gob are produced. The measured data are compared with the quality standard data for normal glass gob, whereby the presence or absence of qualitative defects of the glass gob is determined. And, according to the kind of the qualitative defects determined, the cause-and-effect relationship concerning at least one of the operating factors in the feeder mechanism is determined.

The present invention provides an oxygen-absorbing resin composition characterized by being obtained by dispersing and blending an oxygen absorbent containing 20% or more of particles having a particle diameter of 1000 µ m or less at a ratio of 20% or less to a base resin.

A colorless, transparent soda-lime silica glass which retains a high light transmittance in the visible region and absorbs ultraviolet; and a glass bottle which is obtained by molding the glass and enables the contents to look beautiful and to be prevented from suffering changes caused by ultraviolet, e.g., coloration, discoloration, fading, deterioration of flavor, etc. The glass is characterized by having a composition containing 0.15 to 0.4 wt.% SO3, 0.2 to 1 wt.% cerium oxide (in terms of CeO2), 0.01 to 0.08 wt.% Fe2O3, 0 to 0.008 wt.% FeO, 0.01 to 0.08 wt.% manganese oxide (in terms of MnO), and 0 to 0.0005 wt.% cobalt oxide (in terms of CoO).
