In einem Kraftfahrzeug mit einer oder mehreren angetriebenen Achsen sowie entsprechenden Ausgleichs- und/oder Verteilergetrieben (3, 4, 5) zur Kompensation von Drehzahldifferenzen der Räder (30, 40, 50, 60) soll das Durchdrehen von Rädern und/oder Achsen zur Erhaltung der Fahrsicherheit vermieden werden. Hierfür sind in dem Kraftfahrzeug Sperren (3', 4', 5') für die zuvor genannten, vorzugsweise als Differentialgetriebe ausgebildeten Ausgleichs- und/oder Verteilergetriebe (3, 4, 5) sowie Bremseinrichtungen (33, 34, 43, 44, 53, 54, 63, 64) zur Abbremsung der einzelnen Räder (30, 40, 50, 60) vorhanden, die von einem Steuergerät (1) betätigbar sind. Beim Auftreten einer vorgegebenen Drehzahldifferenz (ΔDMAX) zwischen den Abtriebswellen eines Differentialgetriebes wird zunächst eine Annäherung der Drehzahlen (D3, D4, D5, D6) aneinander durch Betätigung der jeweiligen Bremseinrichtungen (33, 34, 43, 44, 53, 54, 63, 64) herbeigeführt. Wenn eine bestimmte Annäherungstendenz (AMIN) der Drehzahlen (D3, D4, D5, D6) aneinander vorliegt, wird durch Betätigung der Sperre eine Synchronisation der Drehzahlen herbeigeführt. Hierdurch kann bei beliebigem Drehzahlverhalten der drehenden Teile nach einem bestimmten Zeitraum eine Synchronisation dieser Teile herbeigeführt werden, ohne daß hierbei Teile des Kraftfahrzeuges beschädigt werden.

A crawler belt vehicle includes a pair of tired front wheels (5), and a pair of crawler belts (9) each passing around rear and intermediate wheels (6, 7). The front wheel tires and crawler belts (9) are set to respective appropriate values of ground pressure. A vehicle engine (11) is provided between the rear wheels (6) and the intermediate wheels (7). A plurality of discharge openings (9g) are formed in each of the crawler belts (9) to let out snow or mud drawn into an inner surface area of the belt (9). An equalizer (8) is provided on the inner surface of each of the crawler belts (9) to enhance the ground pressure of the belt (9). Each of the crawler belts (9) has a plurality of low-friction members (9i) spaced apart from each other and projecting into sliding contact with the slider (75). Also, a plurality of side guide protrusions (90b) are formed on the inner surface of each of the crawler belts (9) along its opposite longitudinal edge portions, and at least one reinforcing cross member (90a) is provided between every adjacent pair of the side guide protrusions (90b). Relative to the chassis (4), the rear wheels (6) are movable vertically but immovable laterally. A speed changing mechanism (45) is provided between the engine (11) and front-wheel driving shafts (43).

A hydraulic motor serves as the permanent and sole driving mechanism for the pairs of wheels (9, 10) of the individual bogie, which motor is placed in the region between the tyres of the wheels and has its output shaft connected to a driving roller (24) with a plurality of peripherically separate carrier elements which are in a driving engagement with the surface design of each one of the wheel tyres. The method includes providing a vehicle axle system having a first axle half shaft housing, a second axle half shaft housing and a differential housing. Attached one or more of said housings is one or more tri-axis accelerometers. In communication with the accelerometers is one or more data processors operably configured to receive and analyze data from the accelerometers. An occurrence of one or more road events is determined by one or more spikes in the Z-direction of said data collected from said accelerometers. A depth of the road event is determined by a magnitude of said positive and negative changes in acceleration of said spike in said Z-direction and a length of road event is determined by a span of said one or more spikes in said Z-direction. Once the road event is identified the time and geographic location of the road event is identified.
