[PROBLEMS] To provide a novel hydrophilized separation membrane for use in the treatment of a liquid, which comprises an aromatic ether polymer, is less likely to be degraded by sterilization with a high energy ray and has a controlled pore size and a high water permeability. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A porous separation membrane for use in the treatment of a liquid which is produced by a wet film formation process using an aromatic ether polymer and a hydrophilizing agent. The separation membrane can be used for medical purposes or in a pharmaceutical or food.

A semi-permeable membrane system for magnetic particles in fluids (1, 2), comprising a membrane (3) with two membrane surfaces (6) acting as a separation between two fluid fractions with at least one channel that bridges over the membrane. The aim of the invention is to provide a semi-permeable membrane which can be used for endosmosis for magnetic particle fractions and which acts as a semi-permeable barrier for magnetic microparticles. The system is designed to enable continuous penetration of magnetic microparticles, said microparticles changing from one fluid on one side of the membrane to one fluid on the other side. The aim of the invention is achieved by means of a membrane system comprising means for producing a fluid flow between the two fluid fractions in an axial manner in relation to the channel with two switching positions corresponding to the two directions of flow and a connectable and disconnectable magnetic field in the channel, wherein in one operating state a cyclical exchange between the two switching positions is carried out and the magnetic field is connected in the first switching position and disconnected in the second.

The invention relates to a module for the filtration of liquid mediums, especially for purifying waste water, comprising a plurality of essentially planar and flexible filter membrane pockets comprising at least one opening which drains the inner area thereof. Said pockets are arranged in a vertical and parallel manner and are arranged, preferably, at the same distance from each other in a rigid, essentially square supporting element in such a manner that the intermediate gaps arranged between adjacent filter membrane pockets can be intensively crossflown by a liquid. According to the invention, the filtration module in characterised in such a manner that the filter membrane pockets are fixed to closed side surfaces opposite the supporting element, preferably over the entire length thereof, such that the supporting element comprises at least one evacuation line which is used to evacuate the liquid which is suctioned out via the filter membrane pocket openings, and that the filter membrane pockets have a flexible, liquid-permeable core and/or a plurality of flexible liquid-permeable core elements and that the rod or grid-shaped supporting elements are provided on or at a distance from each filtration membrane pocket.

A device and method for reducing biofouling on a surface of an object is provided, wherein the surface is at least partially submerged in an aqueous environment. The device comprises an enclosure which is or becomes water permeable during use, said enclosure defining an open proximal end and a closed distal end such that said enclosure at least partially surrounds the object while the surface is at least partially submerged in the aqueous environment. The open end defines one or more walls that remain spaced apart from the surface of the object in a not fully sealed arrangement when in use. The enclosure comprises perforations in the one or more walls for passing of water into and/or out of the enclosure, and wherein the one or more walls are flexible and comprise an inner surface. In use the enclosure at least partially surrounds the object in the aqueous environment such that the inner surface of the one or more walls of the enclosure faces the surface of the object and the enclosure allows water exchange therethrough to the surface of the object while preventing or limiting biofouling on the surface of the object such that a measure of one or more water chemistry features inside the enclosure is different compared to an equivalent measure outside of the enclosure.

The present invention provides a novel fibrous membrane comprising at least one substrate layer comprising at least 80% by weight of microfibers that carry positively charged and/or negatively charged functional groups, and at least one layer of filtration material attached to the substrate layer, wherein the layer of filtration material comprises at least 80% by weight of nanofibers that carry negatively charged and/or positively charged functional groups. The fibrous membrane is able to remove or reduce the concentration of bacteria, viruses and heavy metals while maintaining relatively high water flow. The invention also relates to filter comprising the fibrous membrane and a method for manufacturing the fibrous membrane.
