Provided are a method of preparing a metal oxide-silica composite aerogel, which includes preparing metal oxide-silica composite precipitates by adding a metal salt solution to a silicate solution and performing a reaction, and drying the metal oxide-silica composite precipitates by irradiation with infrared rays in a wavelength range of 2 µm to 8 µm, and a metal oxide-silica composite aerogel having excellent physical properties, such as low tap density and high specific surface area, as well as excellent pore properties prepared by the method.

A process for removing heavy metals from process fluids includes passing a heavy-metal-containing process fluid, including a reductant selected from hydrogen and carbon monoxide, at an inlet temperature ≦̸125° C. over a sorbent including (i) 4-75% by weight of one or more sulphided copper compounds selected from sulphided basic copper carbonate, sulphided copper hydroxide, sulphided copper oxide or mixtures of these, (ii) optionally a support material, and (iii) a binder and the binder content of the sorbent is in the range 5-30% by weight, wherein essentially all of the sulphided copper is in the form of CuS and the total metal sulphide content of the sorbent, other than copper sulphide, is ≦̸5% wt.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung zur Wasserbehandlung, mit mindestens einem ersten Keimfilter (1) und einer Wasserenthärtungseinrichtung (3), welche ein regenerierbares Ionenaustauscherharz (4) enthält, wobei es sich bei dem ersten Keimfilter (1) um einen Adsorptionsfilter handelt, an dem sich in dem zu behandelnden Wasser enthaltene Bakterien oder Viren durch elektrostatische Adsorption anlagern. Die Erfindung betrifft ferner ein Verfahren zur Regenerierung wenigstens eines Keimfilters und des Ionenaustauscherharzes der Wasserenthärtungseinrichtung der Vorrichtung zur Wasserbehandlung. Mit der Vorrichtung und dem Verfahren wird eine effiziente und einfache Regenerierung der Wasserbehandlungselemente (Keimfilter und Ionenaustauscherharz) zur Desinfizierung und Enthärtung von Rohwasser ermöglicht.
