Further, determination is made as to whether the obtained operation possible time t2 reaches a remaining time of an operation scheduled time obtained by subtracting a currently spent real operation time from the operation schedule time set in advance. When determination is made that the operation possible time t2 does not reach the remaining time of the operation schedule time, a pump absorption horsepower maximum value is reduced to such a value that the operation possible time can reach the remaining time of the operation scheduled time.

When actuator drive torque determined based on drive torque of a hydraulic pump 3 detected by a torque sensor 34 is lower than switching torque τ0, a controller 35 closes a solenoid switching valve 17 and makes a rotary electric machine 8 function as a generator. With the increase in the actuator drive torque, the controller 35 controls a pressure compensated flow control valve 13 so that the flow rate of hydraulic fluid supplied from the hydraulic pump 3 to a rotary hydraulic device 9 decreases. When the actuator drive torque is higher than the switching torque, the controller 35 opens the solenoid switching valve 17, makes the rotary electric machine 8 function as an electric motor, and controls the pressure compensated flow control valve 13 so that the hydraulic fluid discharged by the hydraulic pump 3 is not supplied to the rotary hydraulic device 9. Consequently, shocks due to flow rate fluctuation are prevented when operational states of the rotary hydraulic device and the rotary electric machine are switched during the operation of a construction machine.
