A power part comprising at least one power switching element (24) is designed in order to switch on and switch off a control current (32) for the actuator (16, 18) in a failsafe manner. The control current (32) is guided via a first output connection (54, 56) to the electric actuator (16, 18). The compact control device (12) has a second output connection (60) in order to provide an external status signal (34) and has an evaluation unit (22) which actuates the at least one power switching element (24) on the basis of the first external control switch (36) and generates the external status signal (34) at the second output connection (60) on the basis of the position signal (68).

The invention relates to an electromechanically actuated parking brake for motor vehicles, which is embodied as a duo servo-type drum brake. Said parking brake comprises a floatingly mounted expanding lock (2) which is actuated by means of an electromagnetic actuator (15) which is disposed on a wheel support. The expanding lock is formed substantially by a threaded nut-spindle arrangement (8) whose threaded nut (6) is driven by the electromagnetic actuator (15) as well as two pressure pieces (13, 14). According to the invention, at least one spring element (9) is placed in the flux pattern between the threaded nut-spindle arrangement and at least one of the pressure pieces (13, 14) such that losses of application force are compensated while the set application force is maintained in a reliable manner.

The invention relates to a self-energising electromechanical friction brake (1) comprising a self-energising device (19) provided with, for example, a wedge mechanism. According to the invention, the friction brake (1) is equipped with a linear drive (14), for example an electromagnet (15), for brake actuation. A more complex electric engine, a reducing gear, and a rotation/translation shift gear are not required. The invention enables a compact and robust structure of the friction brake (1).
